Smart balls to be tested

New "smart balls" will be tested in this years U17 world championship in Peru. They will have the technolgy which will enable the referees to know if the ball crossed the goal line. FIFA delegates will be following things and than latter in the year they will decide if they will introduce the system also in the next years WC.

Personaly I think it's a good idea.

It's a good idea and I am really surprised that the Blatter idiot is actually supporting it. Using technology hasn't ruined ice-hockey or american football, why should it ruin football?

Referee mistakes are part of the game now, but FIFA should do everything to reduce these mistakes. We all know how much one goal changes a football game and such serious mistakes like not awarding a goal when the ball crossed the goal line should be thing of the past. For long time now, football is not only a game, but also a serious business. I don't know of any other businesses that would like their income to be influenced by random human mistakes, rather than using the latest technology to avoid them...

 I agree with you. I mean it's not like technology would interfeer with the game itself, it would just enable the refs to make better decissins, shuch that they weren't capable of untill now. It would take only a moment for the ref to know if the ball crossed the line or not, thus making a call wouldn't have an impact on the flow of the game. That's why I belive this is a good idea and like OAnimal said, Im quite surprsed FIFA is actually supporting it.

In the future maybe there would be room for even more thechnological aid to the referees, but for now this is a nice first step to begin with.

FIFA is reported to be very satisfied with the introduction of the "smart" ball in the U17 world championship. I read that everybody is, from the officials, refferees and the most important thing the players too. The referee gets the signal in case the ball was over the line on a spacial watch in an instant and therefore his decission doesn't influence on the play itself.
So, hopefully we'll see the new technology introduced in the next years WC too.
