I am in too. I am also prepared to run the prediction league. However, there is a small issue I want to discuss before starting it.

As you probably don't know yet, together with the XT management, I am preparing a system, that will automatically calculate player results in each round, it will automatically calculate the standings and has some additional nice options. For example, if we decide, we will be able to assign points if the player predicts correct number of goals scored in a match (you predict 1:1, the match ends 2:0, you get points for correct number of goals - but we can also not include this, it's only optional), or if a player predicts correct margin of victory (you predict 4:3, the game ends 1:0, you get points for correct margin of victory), we will also be able to assign points for predicting correct time of first goal scored, or first card shown, or for each correctly predicted goalscorer, etc.

The problem is, that the system is currently still being tested. I can't predict when it will be given the green light, but I guess it should be in few weeks time. I'd really like we use this system, because it would mean less work for prediction league manager (meaning me ).

So we either wait for a few rounds or play the first few rounds like we used to do it last year, but in that case once the system is installed you will have to enter the predictions for the first few rounds again using the new system...

Here I am posting a screenshot of the test system, so that you can get the idea about what options can be set up with it.

Well, I'll be in this time round, time for me to get more active around here again As for the new system, it looks great My opinion is that if it isnt ready, we start playing like we used to with the points you suggested like: points for predicting correct amount of goals in a game and points for correct winning margin and so on The when it is ready to use, we can just adjust to the program

I'm not a fan of those more complicated PL versions, I say we should keep it simple like we used to. But of course the majority will decide and it seems you are all for it. Plus if it means less for you OAnimal - the brains behind it all, than lets do it.

The bottom line is that we play.

Well, the system is ready, it is just being tested at the moment and it seems that it works fine. I'll ask numerodix, who is the responsible technical manager of the site, when we can have it installed. So I suggest we skip the first round or two and start with prediction league later. Besides, the first game is tomorrow and we didn't agree on anything yet (the number of rounds taken into account for example, since this year we have 36 rounds instead of 32).

My suggestion is also that we use the point system like we did last year, meaning:
5 points for predicting the correct winner of the game.
2 points for predicting the correct scoreline.
only 24 best rounds are taken into account for each player, meaning that the players that start playing later still have chance to win it.

Maybe, to make the game more interesting, we can make use of some of the system's features, so I'd suggest additional:
1 point for predicting correct number of goals scored in the game
1 point for predicting correct margin of victory
3 points if you mark a game as special and you predicted the correct winner of this game
only 1 game per round can be marked as special.

How does this sound?

As I said before, if you ask me, I'd say lets keep it as simple as possible. I belive the way things were in the last two seasone worked just fine.

Also we should agree on the start than You say the first match is allready tomorrow?

If the system is not ready for operation yet, sure, we could start with - say round 3?

Or if we could just go ahead and than those predictions would be entered into the system once it'll be fully functional? If that's not too much additional work?

Anyway, I hope others will express their thoughts soon. Also one more thing, what do you think should be the lowest number of participants? I mean last season we started off quite big but than only three or four of us ended the season. :irritate: So far there's 6 of us ready to go.

I expect Bins to show up too.

Sure. But we can also play on the test forum, if you don't mind.

Well, that would require everyone to re-enter his predictions once again...

I don't think we had a limit.

We didn't. I just think it would be quite boring if again only three would actually participate throughout the wholle season.

Well, there is a forum, similar to this one set up at my machine at work, where we are testing things. So in this case, if something goes wrong, the XT doesn't suffer any downtime. I could give you link to this forum and we can play there.

I guess I didn't express myself well enough. In case we start playing as we did last year, once this system is installed, everyone would have to post his predictions once again using this system, so that all rounds will be included in it.
