June 4th, WC qualifier, Belarus - Slovenija

Branko Oblak je objavil seznam reprezentantov za tekmo z Belorusijo. V izbrano vrsto se vračata Anton Žlogar in Klemen Lavrič.

The list:

Keepers: Samir Handanovič (Udinese), Dejan Nemec (Domžale);

Defenders: Boštjan Cesar (Dinamo Zagreb), Fabijan Cipot (Al Arabi), Branko Ilič (Domžale), Matej Mavrič (Molde);

Midfieders: Nastja Čeh (Club Brugge), Suad Filekovič (Ergotelis), Sebastjan Gobec (CMC Publikum), Andrej Komac (HIT Gorica), Jalen Pokorn (Hapoel Nazareth Elit), Simon Sešlar (CMC Publikum), Goran Šukalo (Unterhaching), Anton Žlogar (Paralimni);

Forwards: Sebastjan Cimerotič (CMC Publikum), Klemen Lavrič (Dynamo Dresden), Aleksandar Rodič (Portsmouth), Ermin Šiljak

------------------------------------------------

Here is the list of players Oblak chose for the very important Belarus game in Minsk next saturday. There areno Acimovic and Mavric due to the injury and no captain Knavs who's out becouse of the cards. Three new players were brought in in comparison with the last matches, Gobec, Zlogar and Lavric. Espacially Lavric seems to be in a good form lately, he scored five goals in tha last two games and also finished second striker in the German second Bundesliga.

Doesn't look bad, even though the selection is weakened without Knavs.

Nice to see Dejan Nemec is selected again too btw.

Well I really wonder how will he put the team togather this time? I must say we are pretty weakened, not just Knavs, also Mile will be missed very much.

If I was to make the team it would look something like that:

--------------------Handanovic--------------------

------Ilic------M.Mavric----Cesar-----Cipot--------

Komac----------------Seslar---------------Filekovic

--------------------------------Ceh---------------

----------------Cime--------Siljak------------------

or maybe:

--------------------Handanovic--------------------

------Ilic------M.Mavric----Cesar-----Cipot--------

Komac----------Sukalo------------Seslar--------Ceh

----------------Cime--------Siljak------------------

I would be happy with a nice draw.....but still im quite confident....we always played well against ex soviet countrys......

Away matches:
Russia - Slovenia 1:1......Ucraine twice.....0:0 & 1:1 .... Latvia 1:2 ... Estonia 1:4 .....and we only loose against Lietuva 2:0....

So we have: 6 2 3 1 8:6 +2

Not to mention our home matches: Slovenia - Russia 2:1.... Ucraine twice 2:1 & 3:2.... Latvia 1:0 ..... Estonia 3:0...... Moldova 3:0 Belarus 1:1 ...and the only loose again against Lietuva 1:2....

So we have: 8 6 1 1 16:7 +9

All together is: 14 8 4 2 24:13 +11

I think is quite good....hehe...

Also i remember some good results on culb competitions....

Maribor - Norma Tallin ..an amazing 10:0 ..hehe...or a win in Kiev against Dinamo 0:1 etc....

Go SLOVENIA!!!!

That's nice statistics Tok, but traditions are always broken once...

I think Oblak will play Cipot as defensive midfielder, since he did very well there lately. It should look like this:

---------------------- Handanovic ---------------------------

---- Ilic ------ Mavric ----------- Cesar ---------- Filekovic -----

---- Komac ------ Cipot -------- Seslar -------- Ceh -------

-------------- Rodic -------------- Lavric --------------

I heard on the news today that Oblak said Cime will start only in the second
half since he is not yet ready to play full time after injury. This will be one hell of the game, it is also one of the decisive ones. If we lose, we are not yet out on points, but Belarus would gain a huge momentum and this is not very good, as they seem to be the strongest team in our group besides Italy.

A draw would be fine, I guess.

OAnimal,I like you line up, yes, that's what Brane will probably play. It makes much more sense than mine. :rollani:

This is a must win for us if we still want to be in contact with atleast that second place. We allready blew two points at home, two points with which we could now be infront of Norway an still pretty much on Italys tail. So we must win this one. It wont be easy, Belarus showed what a great team they are. But like Tok said, we have a goos score against those eastern teams, not that it means much though. But I really have a good feeling about it. I allready got an impression that they underastimate us the last time arround. From players comments to their coach promissing us five goals in our net and saaying that we are a poor team.

We will be somewhat weakened, true, but in the past we always rose to the occasion in shuch cases, and I really don't see any problems why couldnt we do it again!

Well, I don't know about that, ultimately this is Oblak decision.

I don't think this is a must win game. We could very well get away with a draw too. We are on equal points and equal number of games played with Norway, but we play them at home in September. I think that a draw against Belarus, and wins over Norway, Scotland and Moldova (away from home) would be enough for the second place. Tough, but possible.
Of course, a win against Belarus would be great and would allow us to drop points against any of the three teams I mentioned before.

Thats why I think its a must win for us, in order to gain some advantage, not only infront of Belarus but also Norway. The matches againstNorway and Scotland at home will be tough and even Moldova away,we saw how Norawy only drew there. So a win next saturday would be wonderfull.

Agreed! :smileani:

Preostali trije ponujeni kandidat (Lehmann, Ahanfouf in van Lent) so skupaj prejeli le slabih 10 odstotkov glasov.
Verjetno ni treba posebej poudarjati, da je bil Lavrič tudi v 34. krogu izbran v najboljšo enajsterico kroga - že šestič letos. Klemen, iskreno čestitamo!

---------------------------------------------------

This article is about Lavric and it says that by some DSF TV poll he was selected second Bundesliga's best player, beating even Lukas Podolski, Germany's rising star.
This is wonderfull news to hear.

Of course I'd love him to show the same in the NT jersey, I just wanted to show this as a proof that he had a wonderfull season there and that he's obviously capable of good performances.

Also, there are rumours about him changing sides, from the second Bundesliga Dynamo Dresden to the newely promoted first Bundesliga team MSV Duisburg.

According to Kicker, he already reached a personal agreement with MSV. Now the both teams still have to come to terms.

-----------------------------------------------

Oblak called aditional two players to the NT. Keeper Mitja Pirih, for whom thiswill be his first call, and Zlatko Dedic from the youth NT. Pirih will replace the injured Nemec and Dedic is in becouse of the problems Siljak has with his injury.

I have no idea why Pirih was called. He is a mediocre goalkeeper at best and he is prone to make huge blunders...

Saturday is nearing very fast! I'm allready feeling the nerves as this is a very important encounter for us. A win over there would be wonderfull.

Brane is promissing us a fighting approach and we are likely to see a much changed side outthere. Almost certainly Lavric will start upfront as he is in a great form, but who will partner him? If anyone at all. Manye Rodic like OAnimal suggested or maybe the young Dedic.

Honestly I don't care who will play, as long as we take the win! And I have a good feeling about it!
