March 30 - WC qualyfication Slovenija : Belarus + Germany friendly

Odpadli so Borut Semler, Klemen Lavrič, Mišo Brečko, Sebastjan Gobec in Almir Tanjič.

---------------------------------------------------

Seems to me like Brane is loosing it! :rollani: Filekovic? Cipot? What the fak??? He named Tiganj as our best striker in Germany and called no Lavric who is constantly on the score board? Cipot is the only one who can cover Ballack? Man this shit scares me! I'm sensing dissaster. I don't give a fak about the Germany friendly but the all important Belarus qualifying match we really shouldn't afford ourselves to fak up!

I don't know, I still trust Oblak. About Filekovic, I guess noone of you two has seen him play lately, am I right? I didn't see him either, but I think Oblak has and thus I trust his decision. Same for Tiganj. About Lavric, the guy can play well in German 2 division ( :rollani: ), but given the chance, he has shown next to nothing in our NT. Let's wait and see, but as I said, I trust Oblak's decision. I don't care about the game with Germany either, as far as I am concerned, we can lose 0:137465786, but Belarus is all another story...

Well I have no reason not to trust him too OAnimal it's just that I find some of those decissions rather strange. True I haven't see Filekovic play lately, but I saw enough of him in the past and I still don't like the man. Tiganj? Please! OK he did score on his debut against the Faraoe Islands is also a player I thought Brane would never call up as he is not young, fast or anything Brane was trying to sell us in the first place. I'd pick Lavric infront of him anytime, I mean how can he show his potential if he doesn't get the chance, and no, one half time isn't what I call a chance.

So yes, I still trust Brane, but he sure lost some of his credebility in my eyes after those decisions he made.

Yes well, Brane wasn't pleased with what he saw fom him the last time. Like he had a decent chance to proove himself in those few minutes he spent in the field. :rollani:
Now I must say I don't know a lot about this guy, but the fact that he plays in Bundesliga for a good club there and that he actually does get to play quite often (the last time this past weekend when he was also sent off) says something.

Similar is the case of Lavric, he plays regulary for his club in Germany. OK it's the second division, but still, he is scoring on regular basis, meaning that he has the potential. What has he shown so far in the NT? I agree with OAnimal, not a lot. But so far he played very little, only one half and I think a few minute in another match. And he was in the level with the rest of our strikers - he did nothing.

Talk to ZZ Top he has some good sources in the NZS, maybe he can fix something.

Anyway you know what I meant. Lavric just didn't get enough chance to make a difference in those games.

Well not long to go now until both games Dont worry guys I have not forgotten about it It seems Oblak has made some strange decisions with the players he has called, but who knows, they may be very good decisions after both the matches are played Of course the Germany result doesnt really matter, all that counts is that at the end of the 90 minutes against Belarus we are in front by at least 1 goal Some articles I found on UEFA

-------------------------------------------------------

Slovenia welcome back Siljak

Ermin Siljak has returned to the Slovenia squad for the forthcoming games against Germany and Belarus.

Back in favour
Coach Branko Oblak has recalled the 31-year-old forward, who was the top scorer in Slovenia's UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifying campaign, after he signed for Belgian club R. Excelsior Mouscron following a spell in Chinese football.

Old name
Oblak has also brought back Fabijan Cipot, a favourite of his predecessor Bojan Prašnikar, who plays in Qatar with Al-Arabi, along with Robert Koren from Norway's Lillestrřm SK, and Suad Filekovic, who recently left Croatia's HNK Hajduk Split for Greek side Ergotelis FC.

Busy schedule
Slovenia face 2006 FIFA World Cup hosts Germany in a friendly in Celje on 26 March, before playing their home Group 5 qualifier against Belarus at the same Skalna Klet stadium four days later.

Fighting chance
"We have seven points now - I hope we will have more after the Belarus match," said Oblak, whose side trail group leaders Italy by two points, and Norway on goal difference. "If we had fewer points, I would have given the young players a chance to prepare them for the UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifiers, but I cannot do that now."

Slovenia squad
Mavric (SV Greuther Fürth), Handanovic (Udinese Calcio), Cesar (NK Dinamo Zagreb), Cipot (Al-Arabi), Ilic (NK Domžale), Knavs (VfL Bochum 1848), Lazic (NK Publikum), Mavric (Molde FK), Acimovic (LOSC Lille Métropole), Ceh (Club Brugge KV), Filekovic (Ergotelis FC), Komac (NK Gorica), Koren (Lillestrřm SK), Pokorn (Hapoel Nazareth FC), Simon Seslar (NK Publikum), Cimirotic (NK Publikum), Rodic (Portsmouth FC), Siljak (R. Excelsior Mouscron).

-------------------------------------------------------

Damage limitation for Belarus

Defensive worries have forced changes to Belarus's squad for the FIFA World Cup Group 5 qualifier away to Slovenia on 30 March.

Defensive suspensions
With first-choice centre-backs Siarhei Shtaniuk and Serguei Yaskovich both suspended, coach Anatoli Baidachny has called on debutant Pavel Kirilchik, who plays in Ukraine with FC Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih. The 24-year-old can also be deployed as a defensive midfielder.

Attacking options
Belarus's attacking options are much better, and the coach has therefore decided against selecting either FC Terek Grozny attacking midfielder Vladzymir Korytko or FC Sokol Saratov striker Henadzi Blizniuk. Belarus have earned four points from three Group 5 games so far.

Belarus squad
Khomutovski (FC Steaua Bucuresti), Sulima (FC Neman Grodno), Zhevnov (FC Moskva), Lavrik (FC Amkar Perm), Tarlovski (without a club), Omelyanchuk (FC Lokomotiv Moskva), Ostrovski (FC Arsenal Kyiv), Chelyadinski (FC Metalurh Zaporizhya), Khatskevich (FK Venta), Kirilchik (FC Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih), Kovba (FC Krylya Sovetov Samara), Romashchenko (FC Dinamo Moskva), Kulchiy (FC Shinnik Yaroslavl), A Hleb (VfB Stuttgart), Kalachou (FC Khimki), Belkevich (FC Dynamo Kyiv), V Hleb (Grasshopper-Club), Sascheko (FC Torpedo Zhodino), Kutuzov (UC Sampdoria), Bulyha (FC Krylya Sovetov Samara), Kovel (FC Dinamo Minsk).
-------------------------------------------------------

So, not a full strength Belarus sign which can only be good news for us instead of them They really do worry me though, most players are not well known but yet they play so well as a team . . . reminds me of us back before the WC in 2002 I think its going to be a close game, fingers crossed that Oblak knows what he is doing

First of all - where the hell have you been mate? Anyway, welcome back!

The Germany game I really don't care about. It's at the wrong time, it will be played only becouse someone decided he still wants to lead the NZS and needed to collect some popularity points and becouse of financial reasons. I would accept this friendly anytime with both hands but not only four days prior to a very cruical quallification match agains a very good side of Belarus. That's why, yet again, a big  for the NZS!

Regarding ther Belarus match, It will be hard. We all saw how good they are. They are a team that's been togather for a long time and it's at it's peak. Very much like we were once under Katanec. And once a team reaches that stage they just can not play badly, that's why we'll have to be at out absolute best if we want to beat them. We sure are capable of making it, but only with the most serious approach and with as little experimenting as possible. I think untill now Brane has learned about who belongs where and he should field only the best. I'll wait a bit longer to give my probable line up untill I hear what's the situation in the team after they get togather.

Also in Group 5, Slovenia coach Brane Oblak has added Goran Šukalo to his squad for next Wednesday's home game against Belarus. The 23-year-old midfield player, who is based in Germany with SpVgg Unterhaching, has 19 caps and one goal to his name.

Yes it's a good thing to bring Sukalo in, I belive he's been quite consistent so far and is one of the few good things Prale brought to the NT.

The one thing that comforts me the most before the two matches is the return of the Kaiser Knavs. With him in defence we are atleast 50 percent stronger and more secure. He gives us the extra edege and uses his vast experiences to command the defence. So a big for Sandi's return!

Tiganj just scored a hattrick in the league match last week and as I watched his goals on DSF, the commentator warned the German NT players to keep an eye of this guy in the friendly against Slovenia. Siljak is also neither young or fast, but he used to be a goal scoring machine. With the problems our NT had in attack recently, I see no reason why Tiganj shouldn't be called as he obviously hit top form in this moment.

Well maybe you are right here. I heard he's doing quite OK there too.

You have a point, Siljak is aging, and we really don't have so many strikers so guys like Lavric and in this case even Tiganj should be given a chance. Becouse it seems like we'll still have to wait some time for the youngsters like Dedic and Semler.

This one will be a very interesting game. Slovenia have impressed me greatly- especially at home. Beating Italy was a fantastic result and only the score in Norway was a bad one.

Belarus though have looked a difficult team so far. I see they have their two central defenders out through suspension which may be a blow for them. Their attack though must be good as they have scored 8 goals in their 3 games. They have scored in every game and scored 3 away to Italy. That would make me worry.

As they have not played Scotland yet I don't know what they are like. I have seen Slovenia and know them to be a very good team. Are you guys confident of the win against Belarus?

Personally speaking, not really. I fear that they might surprise us. As you said, they have very good team, while we have some problems in attack lately, since we find it very difficult to score goals. I don't know, win against them would be great, but it will be damn difficult. Realistically, I think a draw is the most likely result.
