9 Februar: Slovenija - Češka

Well, the team for the match has already been anounced and it looks like this:

Seznam je sledeč:
Keepers: Borut Mavrič (Greuther Fürth), Samir Handanovič (Udinese).
Defenders: Aleksander Knavs (Bochum), Matej Mavrič (Molde), Boštjan Cesar (Olimpija), Branko Ilič (Olimpija), Jalen Pokorn (Hapoel Nazareth-Ilit), Sebastjan Gobec (Publikum).
Midfielders: Mišo Brečko (HSV), Andrej Komac (Gorica), Luka Žinko (Istres), Simon Sešlar (Publikum), Nastja Čeh (CLub Brugge), Mile Ačimovič (Lille).
Forwards: Aleksandar Rodič (Gorica), Borut Semler (Bayern), Sebastjan Cimerotič (Olimpija), Klemen Lavrič (Dynamo Dresden).

So what can be said about the team, it looks pretty good I think Siljak has been left out now I think due to him being in China (from what I gather in the next article). Hopefully we can put in a good performance and come away with a nice result!

-------------------------------------------------

Zelo sem vesel zanj, saj nam manjka hitri obrambni igralec.

-------------------------------------------------

The article talks about Oblak and his thoughts after the tournament in Portugal. He says that the form of Rodić and especially Ilič surprised him since they haven't played for 3 months because of the winter break. He was disappointed that Cime's injury kept him from playing against Sovakia but was pleased with how he performed against Portugal. Luka Žinko wasn't the best but Oblak believes he will get even better when he plays more matches for the NT. Semler was great on the right and controlled much of our play, so it is no surprise that he has been included in our match against the Czechs. Boštjan Cesar had trouble due to an injury he was carrying into the match against Portugal but should also improve.

So what are all your thoughts about the match? I know it is still some time away but I am already starting to get excited

Yeah a good match is coming up. So no Siljak (due to his long trip from China), Rodic instead. It makes sense, apparently Rodic impressed Brane, so lets trust the man. The new man is also Gobec one of the three that Brane pointed out after the Portugal tournament, the third being Ilic whom Brane compared to Beckenbauer.

James my friend, your round up of the article is OK but for one thing. Ceasr didn't play not for his injury but becouse Brane wanted to try out a "shorther" but faster back line.

I hope for a good match against the Czechs and that it would be played in Celje. Now I don't know about the conditions there after yesterdays snowing here in Slovenija. In short, I'm looking forward to it.

Thats a very strong lineup that they have called I feel intimidated just looking at that list and now I wonder how the fak they didnt win the EURO 2004 :sweeteye: Their is no reason we cant win this match though . . . they have 11 players just like we do, and as long as our players do their job all should be well

When Macedonia played them in the qual. couple of months ago they beat us by scoring 2 goals in the last few minutes so im not impressed by them i think that Slovenia can beat them and should beat them.

We did that allready once in the past. And it was an away match for us, it was right after the Euro 2000 and we won 1-0. But we also lost in Murska Sobota a few years before that, I think it was 3-0. And that's all I belive that we played so far, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Czezh Republic have a very strong team, no doubt about it, and they play some wonderfull football, maybe even the best football in Europe, but sure they are beatable. Our young team allready showed that they can play everyone and are capable of winning against anyone. That's why I don't fear the Czechs, we can beat them, but that won't be the primary goal. We still have a team in the making, and Brane said it himself that he will again try some new things in the friendlies to come. So for me the most important thing for the match with the Czecs is that our team will again show a solid performance and that wonderfull team spirit of theirs. A win would just be a bonus.

We are left without Knavs for the Czech friendly. Again he suffered an injury. This time it's a muscle and he'll be out for three weeks atleast. Man, Sandi is turning out to be our next Cime. :rollani:

Why isn't Damir Botanjic from being called up anymore for you guys? Some type of falling out with coach, players, injured?
And also where is he playing now?

Well, the fact that there is no answer to the second question kind of answers the first, doesn't it?

He had to leave Genclerbirligi, then came close to signing for Man City and now has no team as far as I know. :undecide:

The game will be played in Celje! There were some rumours lately that it could be moved to Nova Gorica but the guys in Celje cleaned all the new snow off the pitch. Since the new stadium has a pitch that is warmed up this should represent no problem.

OAnimal do you think of going to the match? Anyone else from our gang?
