Oblak - New selector of slovenia national team

I would lie if I said I didn't want Srečko to come back, but this is a good choice as well ... at least for the senior team, the youngsters got 'outplayed' again. Good look to brane

Naprej Slovenija!

First of all HELO once again. I am back

About the new selector. I just hope that he would gain the support from the fans as well as from the players. But the most important is that NZS will support him 100%!

Well I always wanted Srecko to be the selektor again, no secrets there, he was and is my favourite!

But hey Oblak isn't a bad choice, I mean look what has he done with the young! I do feel sory for the young selections as they have lost a great coach.
I'm positive Brane will know how to deal with the situation. Now I don't expect any miracles from him, what I do expect and want from him to do is to establish the order in the team again, to set the hierarchy again, to build the kult of reprezentanca again! He must bring us back the lost dignity and to make players play for the team again. If he'll do that I'll be satisfied a lot. The results will than come.

And yes it's very important that he gains the full support of the fans too.

Brane will hold a press conference latter today.

P.S.
Fantastic it's great to have you back, just try to stick around!

Ob koncu prvenstva so Oblaka izbrali v idealno enajsterico svetovnega prvenstva.

A little on Brane.

Congratulations to Brane Oblak and to the NZS for making a good decision this time around I think we can expect great things from now, of course not right away, but in the near future I hope we can win our first match under him, which is the friendly in LJ against Serbia It will be great to see how we perform

Also, I read that Katanec rejected the offer from NZS. 'Zavrl admitted Oblak was chosen after former coach Katanec had turned down the position, saying: "Oblak has been an alternative for a long time, his work with the U21 team was good, so he is a logical choice." '

Well done Katanec

I don't know, I have the feeling that our FA screwed everything once again. OK, if Katanec rejected the offer, they had few options left. But taking Oblak away from our U21 NT, where he started doing wonderful job, well... I hope I am wrong.

BTW, nice to read your post again, Fantastic.

Exactly OAnimal, this means a big lost for the U21 as Brane started a great work with them. Now who will get that job? The word is about Pušnik, he isn't a bad coach, but the youngsters just found someone they could trust and now this.

Sure it's OK for A NT to have shuch a man as selektor, but the future lies in the young, and its absolutels assential to have good coaches on that level.

Oblak does have my full support though!

Yes, I hope Pusnik gets the chance to prove he is worth to be a U21 NT coach.

Maybe he will, who knows. I personaly would like to see Darko Milanic start doing some work, not necessary with the U21, but something. I belive Darko is someone we should count on in the future.

Well put. I totally agree.

As far as the U-21s are concerned: could it also be a solution to let his assistant take over instead of bringing in a new guy? Or will Oblak take all his assistants along to the A-squad?

ps: welcome back, fantastic.

That could be an option, but frankly I don't know who are his assistants at U21. Also I can think of no reason why Popivoda and Irgolic (assistants at senior NT), who were here under Katanec and under Prasnikar, should leave now. So I guess Oblak's assistents will stay at U21.

Could be. I guess it depends on habits and how much Oblak likes to keep a solid team of assistants around him.

Najprej me čaka tekma z mlado reprezentanco proti Bosni in Hercegovini 8. junija, ki jo hočemo zmagati. Če so visoki, so počasni.

OK just a quick one.

The first part is about his wage. It's alleged to be about 10000 euro, but he says he doesn't know anything about it yet but that it would be great if it was. He also says that back at his Bayern days he was able to buy an apartment in Ljubljana with a monthly pay, but now he couldn't do it with the wholle selektors wage.

The second part is about his presentation that was held yesterday. His contract starts on June 1st and lasts untill the end of the WC 2006 qualifiers with possible extension in case if both parties will be satisfied after that.
He says that he's honoured to be the selektor of our NT and that his job would be to prepere the team for the next EC the best way possible. First though he must still lead the U21 for one last time against Bosnia in June and after that he'll be ablet to fully concentrate on the job. Than he speaks about how he can't yet say who will play or not, but that we have enough good payers both young and older, and that he will bring some from the U21 and maybe his present assistants too. He says that there will be changes, that only those who are good will play. He wants to build on fighting where we are good at and if we add some quality and knowledge to it success can't fail. He also says he's not affraid of the job and that time will tell. He is mainly interested in good play but that of course good result comes first.
Brane will be 57 tomorrow.

From his interviews it is not possible to tell, if he is pro Zahovic or contra. But he said that he wants players who play in their clubs and who run a lot. Zahovic (currently) doesn't fulfill any of these criteria.
