31. Marec Slovenija - Latvija friendly

Latvia selektor allready announced their team for our upcoming friendly! Prašnikar still didn't and will probably do it at the end of this week - thursday.

Here is the Latvian team:

--------------------------------------------------------

21 Latvijcev

Vratarja:
Aleksandrs Kolinko (Rostov), Andrejs Piedels (Skonto).

Branilci:
Igors Stepanovs (Beveren), Aleksandrs Isakovs, Olegs Blagonadezdins, Arturs Zakresevskis (vsi Skonto), Dzintars Zirnis (Liepajas Metalurgs), Igors Koroblovs, Maris Smirnovs (oba Ventspils).

Vezisti:
Juris Laizans (CSKA Moskva), Vitalijs Astafjevs (Herold Admira), Andrejs Rubins (Shinnik), Imants Bleidelis (Viborg), Valentins Lobanovs (Metallurg), Jurgis Pucinsks (Luch-Energia), Igors Semjonovs (Skonto).

Napadalci:
Marians Pahars (Southampton), Maris Verpakovskis (Dinamo Kijev), Andrejs Prohorenkovs (Maccabi Tel Aviv), Vits Rimkus (Ventspils), Gatis Kalnins (Skonto).

I wasn't to be honest, but I think it is important for players like Cime to play now as they do miss to much action

I'm sorry to dissapoint you but Cime is out and injured again. This time it's both of his legs. He will most likely miss this weekends action in Liga Simobil Vodafone and than who knows for the future?
Cime ans his glassy legs!

As much as I'm aware that Prale won't experiment that much as far as new payers are concidered I'd like to see just that. New players!

Also I'm very interested if he'll again play the system he used against Poland or will he go back to 3-5-2 or try something new, like 4-4-2?

I am pretty sure that Prale will use his well prepared NKWTD system.

I think you are being a bit to harsh on Prale and the boys. I think the NKWTD system you are talking about is used only in order to confuse our WC 2006 qualifying opponents.

Astafjevs set for Latvian centenary
Tuesday, 16 March 2004

Latvia captain Vitalis Astafjevs is in line for his 100th cap after being named in his country's squad to face Slovenia in a pre-UEFA EURO 2004™ warm-up.

Birthday celebration
The midfield player, who celebrates his 33rd birthday three days after the international friendly in Ljubljana on Wednesday 31 March, is part of an experienced 21-man squad named by coach Aleksandrs Starkovs. While there are no untried faces, striker Andrejs Prohorenkovs returns after a lengthy absence with a knee injury.

Tough group
Latvia will also play friendlies against Iceland on 28 April and Azerbaijan on 6 June before heading to Portugal for this summer's finals. They have been drawn in Group D with Germany, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands.

Latvia squad
Kolinko, Piedels, Stepanovs, Isakovs, Blagonadezdins, Zakresevskis, Zirnis, Korablovs, Smirnovs, Laizans, Astafjevs, Rubins, Bleidelis, Lobanovs, Pucinskis, Semjonovs, Pahars, Verpakovskis, Prohorenkovs, Rimkus, Kalnins.

It was in Ekipa a few days ago, but I also belive that he's now fit to play, so forget what I wrote.

BTW Prale will name our squad on mondays press conference.

What do you guys think, should Prale give the chance to our young keeper Botonjic who is in great form this season. Concidering that Simka is aging and all, I think Damir should be given an oportunity to show what he's got.

Not sure, but we shouldn't be surprised if our beloved national TV wouldn't bother televising it.

Well James out national TV is run by a bunch of retards so with them you never know what they will do. They might just as well decide to broadcast some figure ice skating or long distance underwater reading instead, just to save a few $!
