Our team for the WC 2006 qualifiers

There are no doubts that our team will undergo certain changes before we start the next qualifying campaign. Will Prašnikar still be the selektor than, who will the players be that will leave, who will be new to the team.
No matter who will the selektor be, I belive he'll have to start introducing some of our young talents to the team. Shuch as Semler, Dedic, Cesar, Sankovic, Berko and others.
We should start to shape a team for the future, hopefully with different style of football. We have the heart, the spirit and all, we also have the skills, so we could start playing some more atractive football.
Who are the players from the present team we should count on? Defenetly Nastja, Mile, Knavs, Cesar, Koren, Kapic, Šukalo, who else. These players all have atleast two more qualifiers in them. There are also Šiljak, Cime, maybe Karic.
I really wonder what will our team look like. Again defence seems to be the problem. Vugdalic and Cipot are very questionable to say the least. From the two I'd only count on Piko. Our youngsters are good. Semler does magic for youth Bayern, this season he scoreh 14 allready which is half of the whole summ. Dedic promisses a lot in Parma.
Our keepers are old, there is Botonjic that plays regulary in Turkey, where are the others?

So my team for the next qualifiers would look something like this ( I belive I saw something similar in Ekipa too sometime ago):

------------------------Simeunovic------------------------

---------Vugdalic-------Knavs--------Cesar-------------

Koren----------Šukalo------------Ceh-------------Karic

---------------------------Acimovic--------------------------

----------------Šiljak----------------Cimerotic-------------

Put your football brain to sleep Walter and let it wake up in a year or so We don't even know if Prašnikar will stay or not. Not to mention the dates for the qualifiers and so on ... who knows who'll shine then

But one thing is sure, get Vugdalič out of there and put in Berko ... I'm not sure though if he's used to that position, cause something is telling me that he's a CD :undecide:

Are we talking about what our team will look like (i can tell you pretty sure if prasnikar stays) or what we think it should look like?

Mavric, Zlogar, Koren... should get a chance... also the defence should be reconsidered...

Doesn't matter Ner, we can speculate what will our team look like or how would you like the team to look like. Whatever.

In Walter's line-up with the 3-men defence, Knavs is a CD

Well, in my books, that's a sweeper (libero). CD is the defender that performs man on man marking on the opposite forwards.

Maybe Jurcek has a point there, maybe we should turn to 4-4-2 formation, I mean all the succesfull teams do it why wouldn't we do it also.
My 4-4-2 team line up would look like:

--------------------------------Simeunovic----------------------

---Vugdalic(Sankovic)-------Knavs------Cesar-------Karic(Kapic)---

Koren------------Šukalo---------Ceh(Acimovic)-----------Kapic(Karic)

--------------------------Šiljak------Cimerotic------------------------

No way, we would be more exposed defensively, read the NT coach guidelines again...

:undecide: Bottom line is, that he could only take Knavs' place, well the other one as well, but his natural place is there :undecide:

I would like to give a chance to Semler and either partner him up with Šiljak or Cime (hopfully by then his leggs will be fixed).

4-4-2 is problematic mostly on one thing:

We have mostly capable CDs. Knavs, Cesar, Piko, Sankovič all play on this spots. So what can be done to fix that?

OK, what about this:

------------------------Simeunovic(Mavrič)------------------------

-------------------Vugdalic(Cesar)-------Knavs(Sankovič)-----------------

--------Berko(Mavrič)-------------------Kapič madžar(Karič)-----------

-----Acimovic(Koren)----------Šukalo------------Ceh-------------Rudonja

-------------Šiljak(Tiganj)----------------(Cimerotic ali Rakovič)----------

Every way you look at it... Defense should be perfect, or else.... 4-4-2, or 4-5-1 as we can play them, could be very bloody for us:
"Tacles Rudonja, brings a long pass on header. Vugdalič lost his marker and GOALLLL!!!!" Our scoring will be even greater problem, so 4-4-2 should enable at least greater movement of the ball. And again our players will have to run to keep up.

There are also new qualification rules. First two team from the group will qualify directly to WC!

Not all of them. Only best two second placed teams from all groups will qualify directly.

What will be the criteria for the two best 2nd placed teams? Points of course, but what if more than two teams will have equal amount of them? Goal difference? :undecide: I never liked that.

One thing got on my mind just before. I was thinking now that Pavlin quit, our NT is without its captain. With probably Zaho quiting too, who do you think our new captain should be. My vote would go to Sandi Knavs, he is the one, even if Zaho'd still play I'd go for him. With Knavs we'd again get a true captain, a person that is calm, authorative, quality player, respected. Knavs is the one!

Yes, I agree, Knavs is definately the man for the job This was on my mind before and as Knavs also captains his club Kaiserslautern, I can't see how anyone else could take the job
