The Stadium Classic

This is it people! Today is the last match our NT will play on Bežigrad! The stadium where we witnessed the greatest succeses of our NT. It's a shamefull object really, as it's not suitable for shuch spectacles by any means. On the other hand it's a mythical place for us all, for our NT as we don't tend to loose there!
So even though I'm glad we'll finaly move somewhere else, I'm also very sad to see the end to an era of greatness!

May the Fortress do it's magic once again today!

I don't believe this. They've said the same thing many times before and I am sure they will try to beg for another qualification cycle to be played in Bezigrad. Unless of course, the stadium in Celje is built to a reasonable capacity till next year.

Lets play on like we have never done before It is surely sad Walter as here we have had many great matches. I hope we close our time with Bezigrad in great fashion tonight, as it deserves to be done.

It does seem that this is truly the end to Bežigrad. Looks like the Fortress lost it's lucky charm, so we should now look eslwhere.
Maribor is the place for now, untill the stadium in Celje will be built!
It's just shuch a shame it had to end like it did. :depress:

I've read it before Nina, and I must say that I agree with them. I don't want to pretend, I liked that the matches were played in Ljubljana as we have much closer to get there. But the way NZS treated Maribor was really disgrecefull. I have no problems with the matches beeing held there, I'll just have to take a longer trip there, If I'll get the tickets that is.
In the long terms though we need a new stadium! And since we can almost be sure that we'll get nothing of it, we should all support the idea of the stadium in Celje to be built up as soon as possible so that we can get one decent stadium in our beloved country!

It looks like Bežigrad is still in it. The latest news regarding our new national stadium is that Bežigrad will be renewed! This is what the city board will suggest at todays meeting.
What d fak is this? The renewal of Bežigrad is totaly unipropriate, how can it be upgraded so that it will offer anything a modern new stadium can offer? I can understand the roof, new seats, press seats, honour lounge things like that. But where are the parkings, shops, safety area? I don't think the renewal is what is needed!

I saw some of the sketches on TV how the new Bežigrad would look like and it looks great. The part that got me most interested was that it could be done in less than a year which would be great as then we would play some of the Q games for WC in our nest again

And it's not decided yet anyway. Things won't be clear untill February really, as even if the board decided for Bežigrad now they will have to wait till February to see if the ownership mess will clear and they (city council) could buy it. If not, Stožice here we come!

I thought the ownership is cleared up? Anyway, I know it's not final yet, I just wanted to state that I dissagree with the plans to renew Bežigrad, no matter how nice it might look.
Nina, do you have any pics of the sketches you were talking about? I do want to see them.
I belive noone is blind to that grade that he/she wouldn't see that building a brand new stadium is the only right way. The whole thing about the issue makes me it's gone beyond the matter of good taste a long time ago.:fero:

Possible thing Fantastic. Still city board meets today to disscus matters and it seems like the renewal will get the green light. I saw the ideas on the paper yesterday and I must say it looked interesting. The idea is to enlarge the present stadium to a capacity of 18.000 seats with a roof to two major tribunes. Also the idea is to keep some of the present arhitecture, like the honour lounge but with imoproovals I guess. Like I said it looked interesting to me but I still am in favour of a new stadium.

Thanks for those pictures Fantastic
