11.october Cyprus - Slovenija

Selektor Bojan Prašnikar has come up with the list of players for the last match in the group phase of our qualifiers for Euro 2004. It's a game where everything is allready decided but our boys shouldn't take it too easy. Every point is important for the next qualifiers if we want to keep our position in the second classed teams. So it would really be nice if we could manage a win there. Cyprus is normaly quite a tricky team to beat away therefore maximum approach is necessary.

Here is the list of players Prašnikar called up:

Yes, not long to go now and I hope that we close our campaign in style. I hear that Vogric is the top scorer in the Si.Liga so I hope that he can manage to score a few. Also, Siljak scored for his club the other day so it seems that he may be back to his old tricks. Anyway, I'll post more soon, busy at the moment but I can understand why Walter is getting angry.

No I'm not angry, just wondering where are all the people. Not that there would be so many of us here but still. I miss you damn it!

Don't we have better forwards? I mean Cime doesn't play, he's not even on the bench (and not only because he's always injured), Šiljak plays FAR away and only God knows what kind of league is that he's in and then comes Vogrič. Ok, he's on fire, but what exactly are his experience? If Praša wanted someone new, why not take in someone younger who would get to know the team better and would slowly settle into the first 11 and stay there. We could use someone fresh and alive.

P.S. I love Cime and he does pep-up the attack when he comes on, but I would really liike someone who could be pepping up the attack for full 90 minutes and wouldn't be so injury prone.

I think Vogric is a very good choice by Prasnikar... Much better than Kmetec...
As for young players... any suggestions?
I'm sorry but i'm unimpressed by pekic and if the best forward in the league is vogric i don't see what is the problem with him being in the NT... It's not like he's that old...

Well, time will tell. Maybe Vogric will be the best NT player Slovenija has ever had

I was in no way implying to Pekič No Vogrič is not that old, but someone like Semler, for example, is much much younger.

Semler is too still young, but what a prospect he is! I really can't wait for him to get a bit older and produce on the big stage! I have a feeling he'll be one of our future stars!
What about Jagoda, does anyone know what's his story. And don't just get on my back for this allright!

I dont even know who all these players are But, maybe we should introduce more players at a younger age so that by the time they are 27 they will be killer players.

I have no idea Is he still with Le Havre or did he move to some other club in the summer? :undecide:

Jagoda (Strawberry )is a nick-name for Milan Osterc, our ex-national player.
Borut Semler is only 19 years old and plays for the U19 Bayern München and is doing awsome! So far he has 7 goals in 5 matches.
Marko Vogrič is Primorje's forward and currently best scorer. No more info from me about him.

I don't know Nina where Jagoda is now, but I think he's no longer with Le Havre.
If I'm not wrong there were also some speculations about him moving to Olimpija but I'm not sure about that.

Olimpija will probably take in Pavlin as he is supposed to come back as he had a disaggrement with Olympiakos' officials I think it would be a time to sit down and really consider if he's worth a place in the NT. I'm well aware what he has done for the team and that he's currently our C, but lets face it, he's playing terribly as none of his passes ever reach our players. Šukalo and Sešlar are a way better team in the center of the midfield.

I agree with you Nina, Pajo just isn't what he used to be anymore. The fact that he doesn't play on Cyprus says it all, let the fact that he had trouble with the officials alone. I don't know what benefit he'd bring to Olimpija. As far as NT is concidered, I heven't seen him play a decent match for a while now. I think Kapic is more than suitable to take his place or even Sešlar. OK on his day he can still produce I don't doubt that but we can't afford to wait for that bright day. I think that the "glory" took the better of him, and after that Katanec/Zahovic dispute he come out even worst that ZZ himself. I still think high of him, and respect him and all but I also think that his best days are over. What he gave to the NT is unforgetable and unmeasurable, but I think he should now give way to youger and better than himself.

Well it's not certain yet whether Olimpija will hire him or not. It was just said that he'll come back home and I really cannot imagine another club beside Olimpija that would take him in.

It may be worth checking it out? I mean he's got to play somewhere, if only the club's got any money.

I find it funny how nobody (including prasnikar) realizes that zlogar is better than kapic, sukalo, seslar...

Come on!!! Did you see him against liverpool?
