Apparently no new stadium

Saturday I had a chance to speak with Marjan Rekar (he was a general manager of Stadion d.o.o., a company which was created to build a decent national football stadium in Slovenia). He told me, that he quit that job because the city council clearly showed they have no interest in building the stadium. The area, where the stadium should be built, will most probably become a residential area, where houses and big residential buildings will be built.

Between 15.000 and 18.000, however it would have been a modern stadium unlike all stadiums that we have now.

I have also lost my faith that I'll ever watch a football match on the new national stadium. I find it easy to belive what Rekar told you, on the other hand I wouldn't put my hand in fire for that dude. I mean he screwed up every company he managed, and I wouldn't say twice he faked up again and has something to do with the situation surrounding the whole stadium misery.:fero:

Well, that's entirely possible, however, we will probably never know that for sure.

Another proof that we won't build a new stadium comes from the president of the Slo FA, Rudi Zavrl, who said that they will invest in Celje's stadium and from now on the NT will be playing there.

Nina I was discussing this with my friends only yesterday. I said, after apperantly everybody gave up on the new national stadium, that I wouldn't be surprised if all involved in the matter would try and use Celje's new stadium as the substitute. I actually wouldn't mind that at all as from what I've seen this will be a modern, nice stadium once the whole will be finished. It's just that I don't like the way everybody will now try to take advantage of what Celje started on their own. It just shows what kind of people are we dealing with here, garbage.:fero:

Well they won't exactly take an advantage of Celje, Celje will definitely benefit from this But I do get what you mean

I only hope that they'll start renovating the Bežigrad one now. If I'm not mistaken it was either a new stadium or a renovation and since there'll be no new one a rebuilding should start.

I think I have the part of "Trenje" that was about the new stadium on the tape somewhere and therefor the words of Gaber and the town councils that they will chip in for the remodeling and if they won't start I'm going to sue someone! :fero:

Nina are you a millionare?
Seriously Zavrl said that the next qualifiing cyclus for WC 2006 will be played in Celje on the new stadium. NZS will help Celje in building so that the things will run faster. Yeah right, they'll do everything just not to build the new national stadium. As I said allready I won't mind at all if NT will play in Celje, the stadium will be very nice indeed.

No, not yet

Seriously, I know they will now take over Celje's stadium and will say that we don't need a new staedium. Fine. But Bežigrad still looks like shit and they promised to redo it.

I think the new stadium in Celje has the capacity for 3.600 people. That is certainly not enough for the NT matches. I know that Zavrl said NZS will help build temporary extra seats (montažna tribuna) for the next year's qualifiers but i don't know if UEFA security standards permit that. Maybe these standards are lover for NT qualifying matches, i remember that in 1999 when Maribor qualified to the Champions league UEFA didn't allow any temporary extra seats "montažna tribuna" on our stadium. Maybe there are just higher standards for the UCL.

But anyhow I don't really belive what that bastard Zavrl said, he promised several times that some of the matches for this and also the previous qualifiers would be in Maribor but we haven't seen one single game.

Gaber promised to remodel stadium Za Bezigradom? How many promises to build a new stadium have we heard since Euro2000? I can't even count them all. So I won't believe anything until I see it happen.

I wonder how long will it take to finish the whole thing? Once it will be done it will be a very nice stadium.

From what I have seen it is looking very nice already. I especially liked the look of the grass in those last two photos.

However, it only needs a couple of simultaneous visits from Green Dragons and Viole to become a new Bezigrad...
