SLO teams in European competitions

We will have 4 teams this season that will compeat in European competitions:

- Maribor Pivovarna Laško: Champions League
- CMC Publikum: Uefa Cup
- Vega Olimpija: Uefa Cup
- Koper: Intertoto

Koper will play against Zagreb in the Intertoto Cup already on Sunday 22nd June. The 2nd leg will be a week later, Sunday 28th June.

Our other teams will have to wait till Uefa makes the draw to find out who their opponents will be in the Cups' qualifications. The draw will be held tomorrow in Geneva, Friday 20th June.

Two slovenian teams will play against two Zagreb teams in euro competions.
Koper will play NK Zagreb in the Intertoto Cup and Dinamo Zagreb will play Maribor in the CL Qual. which will be a tough match for Dinamo.

I think there's nothing to grin about as all I can see are fists, damaged cars and stadiums.

Yep, exactly. Not so much with the Intertoto game but the Dinamo - Maribor game will be crazy. I think it would be best if they ban visiting fans or something. It will be 10 times worse than the skiing. Two or three thousand dinamo fans will travel for sure.

Its great to see so many Slovenian Club Teams competing in Europe. I must agree with you all in saying that there will be war when Maribor take on Zagreb. Anyhow let's hope Maribor win and hopefully make the CL. I will keep a close eye on all the matches and am very excited about all.

I'm back! Rested and well after getting married!

A lot happened since I last checked things out, I don't even know where to start.
Surely the highlight is the Maribor - Dinamo game in the CL qualifiers. It will be very tough for both teams, with no team being in any advantage. I only hope that we will remember this for football and not anything else.
We must expect the worst, and that is very sad. Both travelling fans should be banned from the match, as that would surely mean less violence. I'm very worried about those matches.

Hey Walter, good to see you back, buddy. Nice to know everything went OK and that you are a happy man.
I am still in a bad mood after yesterday's Brazil exit from the Confederations Cup.

Thanks for the nice welcome's Nina and OAnimal. Sory, no confeti are left anymore!
Ah, OAnimal man, don't be so depressed, if it was a WC that that would be a different story, but a Confederations cup, no need to be. Besides the Turks really played well, and I guess they deserved it.

Doesn't matter if it's WC or Confederations - early exit is just that - an early exit...

But never mind, let's concentrate on Slovenian clubs in European competitions here.

You are right.
So what do you say, how will Maribor : Dinamo end up. Meaning only in footballing sense. It will surely be a tough match for Maribor, they will have to be at their best, especially after two consecutive early exits in the past years. They certainly have a chance as Dinamo is nothing special themselves. It will be an very interesting encounter, and I can't wait for July 30th.

I really have no idea. It's not clear if Dinamo will keep their two most dangerous forwards Olic and Mikic, without them I guess they are not as strong as with them. I don't know, anything can happen (off and on the field), I hope Maribor does enough to go through.

Right now Dinamo is in big trouble. Mikic is not very dangerous trust me. The average age of the current team is only 22. We have lost most of last seasons first team and not really replaced any of them properly. They said they were going to sign some players but nothing yet.

We have a general manager who has personal interest in the club and until he leaves we will fail in Europe every year.

Hopefully, we can still beat you guys even if it stays like this.

Naprijed nogomet.
