Péter Vermes - MLS Winning Coach

Don't know how it missed everyone. But our very own Vermes Peti coach of Kansas won the MLS yesterday

Huge achievment! I'm so please and proud.

Kansas City won the MLS cup with our very own Vermes Peti as coach

What about him?

He is a nice guy though. Don't think that'll help us.
He played in NB1 as did his father (with Puskas!). There's a field named after him in Delran, NJ (Carli Lloyd USWNT #10 grew up playing there)

Interview on Morti's site..

Still, we can do better than an MLS coach can't we

It's MLS. None of us pays much attention. They do have nicer stadiums and bigger crowds than NB1

Yes. That sort of works for most sports Americans play, but clearly not for foci.

Fagyi said the MlSZ is thinking of taking out a big loan of some kind. And no, you don't want a Brazilian Dunga. You need an experienced (though not too travel-worn) European coach with built in clauses into his contract to incentivize performance. The NT always needs a European coach, this isn't South America and never will be, or else God will intervene in human affairs to cleanse.

I was never told by my guy close to the fire what it was for. I just assumed it was for an Xpensive coach. With the business plan of attracting sponsors a big name would attract would pay off the loan.

They didn't get it anyway. At least the first negotiation failed.

Do you mean Yanks? Or people on this forum?

As the MLS cup is a nice league to win. It's not La Liga or Serie A. But there is a not bad standard there. Plus the league covers the whole USA.

People in UK celebrated with Beckham won it. So we should without a doubt. Vermes is one of us

Can only think of Bölöni who coached a title winning team külföldön.

Don't concern myself with Yanks. Americans sure, but not the dreaded Y word. I mean both really. The people I know here who are into foci don't pay much attention to MLS (some are more accepting than others). I make a point to not be snobby about it though. It's definitely grown quite a bit. Seattle games can be fun since the crowd is more like a European crowd. Still remember my shock when I first took notice of what goes on there:eekani:

I guess you're right though, it's definitely newsworthy here I remember Vermes when he was a player and thinking "hey wait a minute.."

You know Yanks it's a perfectly ok way of talking about Americans. I'm not saying you are a NY Yankees fan or anything.

Limey - Brit
Kraut - German
Canucks - Canadians
Frogs - French

No harm

Just has a very negative connotation for me. They're like Fradi...just way way worse

I do have some good friends who are fans though I pray for them.

Can you pray for me? My little lady thinks I'm going to the dentist too often and thinks I'm having an affair with one of the nurses or dentist.

<------------- she is also concerned because I brush too much.

Also she said no hanky panky until after Christmas. All her spare time is wasted buy xmas shopping and preparing in general.

He's often talked about for the USMNT job..

Peter Vermes
The current Sporting KC manager is a popular choice to replace Klinsmann due to his success in MLS. I, personally, am not a fan of this idea. Vermes is a fine MLS manager, but his overall tone as a leader is very rah-rah cheerleader and less tactical and intelligent. Not to mention his personnel decisions to give a player like Graham Zusi a Designated Player contract are questionable to say the least.

Seven managers who could replace Jurgen Klinsmann - Stars and Stripes FC

Why don't you go for it?

He promised too much from the start. That's his biggest problem.

Not sure I could take Vermes all that seriously, looks too much like a mob boss
