Great Hungarians

I mentioned the need to have a thread to collect materials with Hungarian footballing greats (not only players, but also coaches etc); and going beyond the usual obsession with the Aranycsapat.

Kiprich Jozsef, one of the greats of the 80s Hu foci, the legend of Feyenoord. An awkward-looking fellow, but a natural-born striker.

And here he is in the NT, scoring against Austria. First one is just class, really; second one is striker blood.

Yes, you do have that! And it's a great thread! But it's called "Szovkap's list", so can everybody post there? In any case, you know it's a great thread, so cheers for that, mate!

Also, I am thinking of posting materials also with the good ones from the last 30-40 years (already!), the one's I've known, like Kipu. Should we unify the threads? I would not mind, not keen on starting new threads.

same thread (up to a certain point only) is here somewhere too. I gave it up here and moved it to the history forum since there was more interest. but we can reactivate it.

and, everybody can post of course. it's just that the Admins called it szövkap's list after they copied it into the history section.

also a good idea to put videos into it. unfortunately there is hardly any footage of my favourite players, i.e. the ones from before WWII.

Let's rename it HUngarian greats or something. It's just that I want to show my appreciation to players like Kipu, Lisztes, Lipcsei, Detari, Nyilasi, Bene, Albert, so old and new(er), w/o worrying about rankings or such. In any case, your thread , as I said before, is super!

NIce little article comparing Szalai's performance this season, in the perspective of all-time performances of Hungarians playing abroad. Google translate if needed.

Yes, I watched that a couple of weeks ago. Hilarious. Bene Ferenc, one of the greats. But you should also post the first goal from the same game, from Bene. A delight. Out-Brazilianizing the Brazilian defense.

Csernai Pál, former Hu coach of Bayern Munchen, among others - with whom he won 2 championships and played to Champions' League finals, passed away. A figure I did not know about, but we should know. He also coached in Portugal, Greece, Turkey, Switzerland.
