Gera had early chance againts Man Utd to make him self a bigger hero.... he created space with a good "csal" but Carrol got to his shot.

Fans where singing his name passionately after.

but it was one way traffic after this.

WTF!!

Prem: Worst Eleven Of The Week

7 Zoltan Gera (West Brom): The Hungarian does not look like a Premiership footballer. Gera undoubtedly has the talent but lacks the physical presence to make an impact at this level.

whoever wrote that needs sacking!!

Physical presence? Like Owen, Hagi, Baggio, Maradona, Zola, Cruyff, Romario, and the 10,000 other players that aren't a "physical presence?" This is the kind of stupid comment an American who just started following "soccer" would make. Matter of fact, I'll bet the writer is one of these Americans. Because they have grown up their whole lives following Ami football, basketball, and baseball, where the height of a player matters, they think this applies in football as well for somoe reason. And when you try to explain that the height of a player is not important, they absolutely either do not believe you or say you are wrong. Go figure.

here is an English report on the Hungarian "golden ball" winner.

Gera takes Hungarian honour

by Juha Pal - Last Updated 10 Dec 2004

West Bromwich Albion midfielder Zoltan Gera has been named Hungarian Player
of the Year.

Gera took the Golden Ball ahead of Crystal Palace's Gabor Kiraly and his
team-mate Sandor Torghelle.

It was the seventh time the award had been presented and Kiraly was looking
for his fifth gong - after winning on the first four occasions, but it was
not to be as Gera took the prize for the first time.

"I'm always very critical of myself so I'd say that I still have a lot to
improve, but apart from this, I think that 2004 was a really successful year
for me," said Gera.

"We won the Championship and the Hungarian Cup with Ferencvaros and it was a
perfect ending for my Hungarian years."

Why wasn't Gera playing yesterday? I did not see him on the field. West Brom looked terrible.

He was playing but, now dont ask why, he was subbed at half time.
When the teams came out for the second half and found out he'd been subbed, a chorus of "You dont know what you're doing!" rang around St. Andrews.

I can tell you, people are getting mightly peeved with Robsons CRAZY team selections.

Well, his team looked really bad in the second half. They certainly missed Gera's creative play on the ball. So, it is the new coach mixing it up then?

kojak is gonna love this!!

THERE will be some disappointed faces around the Christmas trees of the Midlands next Saturday when thousands of young West Bromwich Albion devotees unwrap their precious new blue and white striped shirts only to discover that the name of their favourite player is missing from the back.
Such is the immense popularity of Zoltan Gera at The Hawthorns that the club shop ran out of the letter “r” this week and had to tell customers that there was little prospect of new stock arriving in time for the festivities. Mothers and fathers were left with a dilemma that no parent should have to face: wait until the new year or settle for Kanu.

Not that the Gera fan club lists only starstruck youngsters among its members. “And Gera is playing Chelsea on his own,” John Motson exclaimed as the Hungary captain embarked on another bamboozling run in October. It was one of many eye-catching displays by a player who, in just five months, has become as much of a Black Country favourite as faggots and peas and Banks’s mild.

There is more than a touch of the gymnast in the way the newly elected Hungarian Footballer of the Year floats over the turf, causing Albion fans of a certain age to rhapsodise about another No 11 who only had to gain possession in order to create a swell of expectation all around the ground.

I heard this on ITV.com

The 4-0 demolition by Birmingham left disillusioned Albion fans pining for former boss Gary Megson, while making it clear what they thought of incumbent Bryan Robson.

"You don't know what you're doing," they chanted following Robson's strange decision to withdraw Zoltan Gera at the break.
