Karim Rekik

Top talent, 19 years old, been with city since he was 16.
We dont need to go out and buy a CB, this guy is top class. Had a good season on loan with PSV, now called up to the dutch squad for world cup.

Be interesting to see what happens to him this season, could be a regular player in the squad, especially as he's "home-grown". Already looked the business when he made his debut at 16.

with kompany by his side, he will do great, just needs to be given a chance.
but it seems that we are most likely going to buy a CB, if not Mangala than probably Benatia.

Kompany, Demichelis, Nastasic, Boyata, Rekik plus potential Mangala or Benatia, thats too many CB's. We really dont need to buy one and i hope pellegrini waits until a few games in preseason(to give Rekik a chance to prove himself) before going out and buying, but city officials have already said they want to do business quick

Should Boyata even be mentioned? Whenever I see the guy, he looks way out of his depth.

Boyata is there as a homegrown player (who won't play).

Any news on whether Karim is being considered for a first team spot next season?

I see you offloaded Nastasić but does that impact on Karim's chances at all or will you just go out and buy another CB next summer like you did with Mangala this time around?

He has really improved since last season here at PSV and if we win the league then i'm sure we will want to buy him outright

Not sure, I was quite surprised he wasn't recalled this summer, but obviously we signed Mangala. I think he still has a big future. I watched him for PSV a couple of weeks ago, I think against Excelsior(?) and he was excellent, just so mature for his age. Looks unflappable.

Am I right in thinking PSV have a bit of money to spend at the moment, you've got quite a good spine going with Depay, Guardado, Rekik, Bruma, Wijnaldum, De Jong and Schaars.

Karim was quite average last season though and i really didn't mind if he didn't stay on at PSV. He lost the ball too many times at crucial moments playing out from the back (silly mistakes). He has matured tenfold this season and is now more composed/assured than Bruma despite being 3 years younger than him.

Yeah and we will most likely sell Memphis and Wijnaldum this summer which means that we will get somewhere close to €50 million for them. We had offers this summer of €30m for Memphis and €25 for Wijnaldum but rejected them. This means we will definitely have enough money to sign Rekik and Guardado permanently this summer. Question is whether Man City want to let Karim go.

I don't think we will, he counts as a home-grown player so under FFP regulations having him round instead of the dreadful Boyata would be handy.

Rumours are that Man City will extend his contract which currently runs until 2016

PSV want to again take him on loan next season but no comment yet on whether City want to do that/loan him elsewhere or keep him in their squad

Man City have made the decision to not loan him back to PSV for next season

Instead he will be loaned to a club in a bigger league

How many more loans before he gets a chance?

Who are we going to loan him to? He's just learned how to win a league with a very big team. He needs his chance with City now.

No idea. He just said that City want to loan him to a club in a bigger league - that's all the information that was given.

I'm not saying he is ready for Man City level yet (although none of your CBs seem to be atm ) but i thought he'd at least be given a chance in pre-season with him not only qualifying as a "home-grown" player (he is much better than Boyata or Denayer) and he cost you nothing (financial fair play considerations)

I read that you want to loan Denayer to a Championship side next season anyway

More Boyata then
