Week 7: Feyenoord - AZ

Tonight 20:00

Vermeer

Geertruida - Botteghin - Ie - Haps

Toornstra - Tapia
Kokcu

Berghuis - Narsingh - Sinisterra

Bench: Bijlow, Evora, Senesi, Malacia, Johnston, Burger, Kelly, El Bouchataoui, Larsson, Bannis, Azarkan

Karsdorp, Jorgensen (rib injury from the Jong Feyenoord game on Monday) and Fer are injured.

A win would be great as well as surprising.

A pretty dreadful beginning if nothing else. At least we're not down yet...

Well, Boadu put them up 0-1. Laughable defending, everyone was ball-watching, but it was Ié who lost his man.

We picked up after a dreadful start and created a number chances, the best one probably being Toornstra's thundering volley into the crossbar. At least one other unlucky miss (header blocked by our own guy). But then they scored a pretty easy goal, though well played from them too. Still, ffs.

Botteghin gifted a third goal for AZ. 0-3. Vermeer passed the ball to Botteghin who to me looked like he was asking for it, then dallied on it, slipped, lost the ball to their forward and that was that.

We look really poor and devoid of confidence. This has been an absolutely catastrophic start to the season. How did we decide to go into the season with just one striker, even that one injured. Meanwhile we spend 8 million on a CB (who looked like a complete turd on his first showing) when we have altogether FIVE centre backs already?! Stam, GTFO!

Stam's tough guy style may have worked in the 60s but with the kids these days, you need a different approach. Arne Slot hugging his players, Stam chewing bubble gum looking stone-faced, walking away.

Wow. Embarrassing. But not unexpected.

We needed stoppage time goals in at least two matches now to get draws against mid- to low-table sides. Now that we have given up 12 goals in 7 matches, and only scored 11, WE are the mid-table side.

Prepare for a long and frustrating season. With no striker (Jorgi won't be fit for more than a few matches and he likely won't score anyway), we use wingers for offense. And yeah, we spent the big Euros on another central defender who might not be ready for prime time. Good thing the ice hockey season is approaching soon.

We were completely devoid of ideas. Only created one chance in the second half with Narsingh curling the ball over. AZ controlled the game from start to finish and comfortably won playing in second or third gear for most of the match.

It's hard watching this all.

Ditto to everything. It's hard watching this, AZ playing on second gear, thank god for hockey season starting, and at least there's Teemu Pukki to root for in the EPL.

The thing is, looking at the squad, apart from lacking a striker it shouldn't be this bad! Kick that prick of a Stone Cold Steve Austin lookalike out!
