Week 5: Feyenoord - ADO

Sunday 14:30

Usually is a good game. Friends Immers, Beugelsdijk, Necid and Bakker are physically strong.

Big signing Marcos Senesi has arrived in Rotterdam and will train with the team for the first time tomorrow. I'd be surprised to see him start on Sunday, but seeing the amount we paid for him, I don't expect Stam to wait till mid November to give him starts. Substitute's appearance if the game needs him.

Everyone is training again btw (except for van Beek) so we might see:

Vermeer

Karsdorp - Botteghin - Ié - Haps

Fer - Tapia
Kokcu

Berghuis - Jorgensen - Larsson

I'm a fan of Sinisterra, but we'll probably see Larsson start.
Jorgensen to surely start if he can play an hour.
Toornstra will probably get playing time in the second half, before probably starting against Rangers on Thursday.
Hope Karsdorp can now last 90 minutes. Fer seemed to already be able to do that prior to the international break.

2-1 prediction

Lex Immers - Pace & power. Holland's #1 box to box player

Feyenoord forum - the place to talk about this phenomenon

I like the Fer-Tapia midfield combination. With some defensive steel, that should allow Kokcu to get forward more often and create some offense. It will be nice to see Jorgensen back if he can get to the form he had three seasons ago.

Agreed on basically everything. I think we have a really good situation in terms of wide players. I'd still play Berghuis in the middle, behind striker, and then Narsingh, maybe Toornstra on the right. Toornstra doesn't work for me as no. 10, never has, and Kökcu hasn't been that great yet, though is a good option. I'd hope to see both Larsson and Sinisterra on the right. Both are good, though a bit different. Both have tricks though!

We're in the lead with Karsdorp scoring from a penalty perhaps 7 minutes in. Haps was felled in the box. Pretty good football so far, a few well crafted chances already. I wonder where Berghuis is? Now that we've scored I don't have to worry about difficulty of scoring without Berghuis or a striker at least. I think we need another goal though because I fear Goossens will score against us from a free kick.

Well, there it is. Narsingh scores and it's 2-0. Sinisterra provided a nice 1-2.

It looks like Sinisterra is playing the #9 (central striker) role. Interesting. Three gazelles up front: Larsson, Sinisterra, Narsingh. No Berghuis for some reason.

Robbed of another penalty as Meijers accidentally brought down Narsingh. Larsson almost scored, and should have scored, from a Karsdorp cross. Total dominance at the moment.

Now 3-0 after Meijer knocked cross away with his arm. Fer dispatches the PK.

Well, now got a penalty for a handball. Leroy Fer confidently converts.

We lost this fixture last season at home, 0-2; so this is an improvement, eh?

Jesus, I had forgotten about that. We've been very good from the beginning. Need to keep it up. Hope to bring in Jřrgensen and that he'd score.

Not much to say about the first half, other than we were dominant. Tapia-Fer midfield really makes a difference, and looks like a much better duo than Vilhena-Clasie. They bring a lot of muscle and are good ball winners both. They're also good with the ball. And they're sufficiently defensive-minded. Defensively, good full-back action throughout, and Ié has looked very good in interceptions, with the ball, and in distribution. Finally, it's a good idea to move Narsingh to the flank since he's pretty much a traditional winger. Good to have a player like him in the line-up.

Azarkan on for Sinisterra. A short winger, is he rated higher than Hamer or El Hankouri were?

Two own goals. Jesus. And some guy called Azarkan on the left, who looks totally useless. Are we going to botch this?

What a bizarre second half.

Ends 3-2 with Ie and Tapia scoring own goals for ADO.

Sheesh.

A bit of a weird game. We controlled the proceedings and created loads of chances; could have scored more and hopefully will be more clinical in the future. Though we played quite well, we did concede two weird, unlucky own goals, though one of them would probably been a goal anyway, or so it looked to me. Despite the mishaps, the starting line up broadly speaking played quite well I thought. Jorgensen looked alright, but Toornstra and Azarkan didn't bring a whole lot - looked like they couldn't really get into the rhythm. Toornstra looked best when drifting to the right, unsurprisingly.

Narsingh looked better than before now that he was on the right. In turn, Sinisterra was more invisible than usual now that he was in the middle, though didn't do badly. Larsson in the middle next? Kökcu was ok, but looks like he still needs to get used to the tempo and the physicality of Eredivisie. I thought Fer and Tapia did well in the middle, and defense seems to be working too. We do need to start scoring from the opportunities we create.
