Di Benedetto/Pallotta: Rome wasn't built in a day

http://www.calciomercato.com/mercato...n-a-day-183048

Ora costa..soltanto 13 milioni. Se ne riparlerà. A breve.

We've already spent 40 mil if you count Bojan and Jose Valdes as "official". I don't think we've spent that much since the summer of 2001 when we bought Cassano, Pellizoli, Panucci, Lassissi, and Fuser.

And hopefully more will be spent, but the difference between now and that time is : I think the market prices are higher now with Man.City, Chelsea and likes around.

Without The American takeover we were going to become mediocre club. They are thankful for everything they are doing for us, and making us live the dream.
I think the main target is lowering the age of the team, build a team for future.A worthy squad, we all can feel proud of.

I am most excited about the mention of Sandro in that article. I think he would be a great addition to our midfield, fantastic player and only 21.

I suspect you were too young to remember, but Roma spent 30 Mil on 18 yr old Cassano, and around 20 mil on 20 yr old Pelizolli.

I am not sure there has been any 18 yr old sold for similar price as Cassano. The market will never be as inflated as it was back then.

United paid 35m or so for Rooney at 18, but yeah Sensi was running wild back then. The market took a huge dip in 2002 -especially in Italy- but prices have recovered since -though not in Italy.

Not bigotting

I've been following the management of this club during this strange summer of transition for Roma, and it appears that the new owners have been smart enough to surrender the mercato and matters of player scouting and evaluations to the best transfer of the season thus far: the insane, chain-smokin', Capt. Cool Sabatini. I'm very impressed by Sabatini's savvy international approach to transfers, and I feel secure that he will get the most out of our money. It's something we've not had in a long time. Guidance. Not spending on the flavor of the month. I'm a little worried about the coach and others trying to adapt to Serie A and its unique world. But Forza. Let's keep it going.

It works if you work it.

Di Benedetto's press conference started

What are your priorities in the coming months?

The priority is to choose the best possible management team. We are chasing young players, they will make mistakes but we need to be patient. The priority is to create the best management team.

When can we talk about the scudetto?

Hopefully we can win the title as soon as possible. Rome was not built in days, the management will do its best to field best team possible.

Baldini will be rejoining in november. I wonder if there'll be a clash with Sabatini though.

Baldini is running the day to day operations of AS Roma. Sabatini is focusing on the players. The 2 have different specific roles.

For some reason, I have this nagging suspicion that we'll get Pastore, too. Even if it doesn't make much sense, I think the lad wants to come here. Forza

Well a new owner would love to bring in a big name. It might be Pastore + Lamela Bojan Totti for the 2 remaining attacking positions.

According to Pierro torri of corriere dello sport, Totti refused to participate in press conference with Enrique and DI Benedetto when asked.
He also refused to take photographs with new jerseys.

Quote:

I think Totti is feeling we are tanking next season, and preparing a team for the future. This is why he is not that happy with the project, because his time to win with us is now as he wont be here some years later.
