World Class Player
Teams: Juventus, Lebanon, Italy
First of all congrats to Real Madrid and Real fans.
Of course, it is a deserved qualification, had it gone either way for both teams, because in both legs both sides had 3-0 leads.
The tie was literally decided after the 90th minute, in a moment where the slightest mistake can be costly.
I think it is generally agreed that Vazquez wasn't expecting the pass and was likely going to overhit it with his chest and probably going to bounce into Buffon's arms. Benatia did not need to do what he did, but it was a final moment of desperation, I could understand it in terms of pressure and level of "aggression" let's say in that exact moment and scenario.
It was a PK, I am not going to beat around the bush. Moreover, though, it was a soft PK, and I am 200% sure that hypothetically, had let's say Varane committed the same exact action on let's say Pjanic as he was about to chest it, the Ref would not have called a PK. I am so sure of this.
In any case, I was not expecting Juve to mount anything near a comeback, but the fact that by the 65th minute Juve had leveled the tie in the Bernabeu is something magnificent. I'm proud of the performance, sad for Buffon, and looking forward to enjoying another CL campaign next season.
As for Cristiano Ronaldo for all the standing ovation fanfare he got in Turin I must say he makes it so easy to change your mind about him with all that diving and overall *****-ness. ANyway I don't want to sound like a sore loser. Well done to him. That PK was well-struck I have to say one of the best executed spot kicks I've ever seen given the nerves and tension (right up there with Pirlo's panenka in 2012).
Don't lament the treachery of time;
long have dogs danced over the carcasses of lions.
Don't suppose that their dancing raises them above their masters;
for dogs remain dogs, and lions remain lions.
Insult me as you wish;
For my silence to the depraved is a response.
It's not that I have no response, but;
A lion does not reply to a dog.
