2015 MLS Salary List

Its that time of year again when MLS release the salaries of the players in the league

http://www.mlsplayers.org/images/Jul...0By%20Club.pdf

Highest Paid
Kaka (ORL) 7.2m
Sebastian Giovinco (TOR) 7.1m
Michael Bradley (TOR) 6.5m
Steven Gerrard (LAG) 6.3m
Frank Lampard (NYC) 6.0m
David Villa (NYC) 5.6m
Jozy Altidore (TOR) 4.75m
Clint Dempsey (SEA) 4.6m
Robbie Keane (LAG) 4.5m
Giovanni dos Santos (LAG) 4.1m
Jermaine Jones (NE) 3.0m
Obafemi Martins (SEA) 3.0m

Kaka just edges out Giovinco for the highest paid player in the league. Bradley is the 3rd highest paid and the highest paid American. The most recent signing, GDS, signed for less than what was originally reported. Below Jones/Martins there are still a couple of players making 7 figures, all under 2.5m, the notables are Pirlo, Morales, Emeghara, Ridgewell, Gonzalez, Maloney, Higuain, Doyle

Found a site where they did the averages, the average salary is about 280K which is up about 40K from last year, though the number is inflated with some of the monster contracts. 46.7% of the players still make under 100K and only 15 make more than 1 million

And here is the team-by-team salaries, surprise surprise its the NY Red Bulls in last place

Code:
1. Toronto FC 22,774,566
2. Los Angeles Galaxy	19,475,299
3. New York City FC	17,860,267
4. Orlando City 11,478,787
5. Seattle Sounders	11,368,380
6. New England Revolution 6,566,089
7. Vancouver Whitecaps	6,150,226
8. Sporting Kansas City	5,610,976
9. Philadelphia Union	5,568,173
10. Portland Timbers	5,312,916
11. Chicago Fire	5,144,184
12. Houston Dynamo	4,988,491
13. Colorado Rapids	4,939,918
14. Columbus Crew	4,925,014
15. San Jose Earthquakes 4,785,380
16. DC United 4,349,763
17. Montreal Impact	4,336,785
18. Real Salt Lake	4,328,253
19. FC Dallas 4,098,291
20. New York Red Bulls	3,884,228
So Toronto lead this, with Giovinco, Altidore, Bradley making 81% of the team's salary Also, the two expansion teams in the top 4. NYRB and FC Dallas really punching above their weight while Philly, who's fans are turning against the ownership is in the top 10 but severely under performing

Some big signings for MLS standards with Pirlo joining NYCFC, Wright-Phillips set to join NY Red Bulls and now Drogba joining Montreal Impact.

I had no idea that guys like Robbie Keane and Obafemi Martins are still playing

Giovinco on 7m? ok...

Big games are easy than the other games, unfortunately. Every times we have the control the games, under the control the games, during the games we had the some possibilities, some big chances, some big okazyons, something like that but what can I do, sometimes? And….it’s the football, that’s the football, something happened. Everything is something happened. - Fatih Terim

With the Red Bulls signing Shaun Wright-Phillips and Argentinian midfielder Gonzalo Veron I'm sure they moved up from being the cheapest team in the league

I wanted to see if the higher salary teams performed better. Doesn't appear so!
