Toronto FC Official Thread

Our MLS story hasn't started on the right note with losses to Chivas (0-2) and New England (0-4) but with this team which only started playing together 2 months ago you can't expect much.

Mo's job right now is to start weeding out the disinterested players and focus on finding that right mix for our starting XI. It doesn't hurt when a couple of key guys are injured like Prozniak and O'Brien but hopefully they'll return for the home opener April 28 against KC.

I wouldn't be surprised if you struggle the first season, Chivas USA and Real Salt Lake struggled hard their first seasons as well, but they are both definitely improving. You have some talented players though, I like Eskandarian and Buddle, though Buddle hasn't been too great in the first two games. Greg Sutton seems pretty solid in goal, he made some good saves against Chivas. The one I don't rate high is Mo Johnston, but I suppose if he get things right you guys could have a decent opening season. The home opener should be fun, I imagine there will be quite a large set of fans there. The Wizards look good this year though, with players like Johnson and Marinelli. Should be some entertaining football, as I feel Toronto will open up and attack a bit more.

i dont think that Toronto will make the playoffs personally, but i hope that they prosper and grow as a franchise.

Toronto 3 - 1 Chicago

Now that's what I'm talking about!!! What a match, we basically dissected the Fire and pretty much had our way with them all match.

First MLS goal, first MLS win

We're establishing BMO Place as one of the toughest stadiums to play in.

We have:

ohhh Danny Dichioooo
Dichio, Dichio
Danny Dichioooooooo
ohhhhhh

ON FIIIIIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRE!!

i really hope you guys can keep that atmosphere up for years to come. you guys played great this weekend.

admittedly, i hope that a Canadian team doesnt win the championship (nor Chivas USA for that matter) but it really was a joy to watch you guys win against the fire

Congrats! Fantastic atmosphere at BMO. Definitely deserved.

TBH, I wouldn't mind Toronto FC winning, I don't mind them winning as much as I didn't mind the Blue Jays winning the World Series, though I think its a safe bet that they won't win it this year. I think the issue of Chivas winning is a bit different than Toronto, though I see Chivas becoming more and more independent from the Mexican team though. More American and international players, not just a Chivas Guadalajara reserve side anymore.

Thanks guys for the kind words.

With everyone being an MLS fan, if you guys ever consider trekking up here for a road trip to follow your respective team. Let me know and I'll tell you all you need to know about Toronto, where to stay, nightlife etc etc.

Even you Naervod :smileani:

Looking forward to being in attendance tomorrow against the Dynamo. They're calling for rain but hopefully that doesn't discourage anyone from attending.

Don't know if I'll get up there anytime soon, but I'd love to make the trip at some point.

Hell, we don't have to let our erm...differences of opinion (to put it lightly ) over calcio affect our enjoyment of the MLS.

Given that 9,000 people showed up for a Red Bull game in the worst storm of the year, I'm sure a bit of rain won't discourague great fans like yours from making the trip.

GREAT TURNOUT!!

And an even BETTER RESULT!!!

Hell, are we flying or what?? 1-0 defeat over the defnding champs says more than it actually is given Houston's record this year, but I'll take the 3 points no problem.

They announced that the game was sold out but I'd venture to say there were probably around 13-15,000 in attendance last night. Not bad.
