So there are 3 main laureate categories recently:
3rd World novellist who is "inspired by Kafka/Faulkner/etc.", and/or reads the Times Literary Supplement, and/or has attended or lectured at Oxbridge or other major 1st World university (Vargas Llosa, Naipaul, Coetsee, Le Clesio (3rd World wannabe) Mo Jan, Pamuk).
2nd World novellist dealing with evil/gulag/holocaust (Kertess, Müller).
1st World writers doing "all the other stuff"... poetry, plays, feminism, S/M, etc., (Trans, Pinter, Jelinek, Lessing).
Ive probably been the poster with most number of heated discussions in this board over the years.... and I can assure you I won at least 90% of them.
