Catcher in the Rye

Just started reading it...it's a good read so far...but one slight dislike...some of the vocabulary is starting to get real repetitive e.g. (goddam, chrissake, corny, moron). It may well be intentional (this is what I'm assuming)...

So far it's a good read and real interesting...it's been a while since I read a book as good or as interesting. Any spare minute of my day I'm thinking of periods where I can sit down and just read a block of it...

Indeed it's intentional. Holden said his vocabulary is lousy at a point. I like the plain, basic and simple prose styling of the writing.

Terrific book, and of course the language is intentional.

Ma question préférée: qu'est-ce j'vais faire de tout cet oseille?

He put my goddam paper down then and looked at me like he'd just beaten hell out of me in ping-pong or something.

Read it in school. Have it at home somewhere. A good book is like revisiting an old friend, and capturing memories of past times.

My favourite book, bar none.

Reminds me of being young (well, I'm only 20, so I guess it reminds me of being younger). There's just something abstruse within that seems to resonate with all who read it.

The ending sucks. I hate that he doesn't want to tell us more. I mean, what did happen?

I choose to believe that he went to prison and got gang raped in the showers. But he didn't really mind because he had never done it before.

Without it gravity is just gravy.
