The Winds of War & War and Remembrance

Have any of you read these books.

I just bought them as that is a very interesting time period to me. I heard they were classics and am about 50 pages into The winds of war. Seems good, though I am wondering what type of a genre this is supposed to be classified as?

They are Historical novels (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Historical_novel). They were fantastic reads. I've read them both twice years ago, and will read them again sometime. Incredible feat of writing, very well researched. The Winds of War pretty much started my World War 2 interest.

Well I will take your opinion with a grain of salt because, well, your taste in other things is a bit off. (Barcelona, Man United )

So far you are right though.
