Gabriel Garcia Marquez

My favourite writer ever, nobel prize winner and "One hundred years of solitude" is for my money the greatest novel of the 20th century (maybe ever)

Well, I only read <Memories of My Melancholy Whores> which was quite good. But I know his masterpieces are <One hundred years of solitude> and <Love in the Time of Cholera>. I got to read those.:undecide:

How does it compare in the origional text? I've always wanted to read his work in Spanish but sadly my Spanish is not what it was/should be.

"Of love and other demons" is another wonderful book of his i reread not too long ago, people tend to focus on the "magical realism" aspect of his novels alot but if you look past that you'll find love stories that compare well with anything ever writen

"Chronicle of a death foretold" is probably my favourite Marquez. I love how the story unfolded, and even though I knew what would happen, I kept hoping it wouldn't when reading. Great use of language. I've got a few more of his books on my shelf, and I'll get around to them soon enough. I used to read so much more before this "internet" thing came along! p

missed the point of that book at first, kept waiting for the twist but it never came, then i realised that the intention of the book was to get the plot and end out of the way early to focus on the characters and plot details (interesting idea)

Just reading though his short stories also, so far the third resignation is the stand out, very odd view of life/death

**** me One Hundred Years of Solitude is a mind ****!

I want to choke that Amaranta badly...such a bitch!

Amazing read thus far even though I feel like I might have to re-read it again sometime as I feel like I might have missed some stuff...I'm only 150 odd pages in...and I feel like I have grown up with the characters...
