Recomendation

On monday ill be travelling (8 hour on the bus) to a mountain cabain without tv or radio ill stay there for 5 days, so i want to take with me 2 books to make me company, as my gf did not want to share these experince with me (actually she cant she s working).

Id love to read something similar to these books that i have already read.

I want one book to be similar

The Outsider by Albert Camus or The Perfume by Suskind

and the other book could be a classic like

Karamazov Brothers.

not a classic, but I can recommend the Kite Runner

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Kite_Runner

or J.D. Salinger's Catcher of the Rye

Paul Auster - NY Trilogy

OR

JG Ballard - High Rise

the first is split into 3 detective stories - one is very abstract (almost unreadable)

but the main (as in longest) is a story where the writer has to find an abusive lunatic father who's just got out of prison - it's related to the theory of the tower of Babel - the father isolated his son from the rest of the world to see if he could develop a natural language - he gets put in the clink for that ... then the writer-detective is paid by the son to track his Dad down

brilliantly written

it's all about identity and language and its very "postmodern" to use a bullsh*t term ...

High Rise - hoho I love this book.... I really do

it's like Lord of the Flies but in a 1000 apartment high-rise building

the apartment block divides itself into an upper/middle/lower class system, closes itself off from the rest of the world and becomes totally tribal

the opening scene has a solicitor barbecuing a dog on his balcony .....

you might be interested man .... or you might not

they're a couple of my favourites
