I need help

I was wondering if you can recommend some books about riots.

I'm interested in racial riots. I have an essay to write about racial riots, how they happen, why when etc etc.

I have a book about the LA riots back in the 90s but I haven't found anything about the riot in france or Australia. Anyway, I hope you can help me out as I really need books about this subject.

Thanks..

I don't have a sig.

It doesn't have to be a book either, can be an article or something like that.

ANYTHING, people!

There's a new article (and development it seems) on the issue in todays NY Times.

I read a really good article in one of the Sunday supplements in the UK, cannot remember which one, about prison gangs in Brazil. It was both horrific and interesting at the same time with the PCC being the acronym that popped up most often. Couldn't say if there are any books on the subject but those riots are well worth reading about, as are the systems behind them.

I read a (fiction) book about the Brixton riots of the early 1980s. Not sure if you will be able to get it outside of the UK but you can try. It's called "East of Acre Lane" by Alex Wheatle

Well if the French Revolution aplies as hiper riot (ok not intrinsecally racial)..."El siglo de las luces" from Alejo Carpentier will throw you in the world of one of the best writers ever. You can't miss that opportunity.

You need to include the Watts (Los Angeles) riots of August 1965 which led to the founding of the Black Panther Party. These riots were ultimately more important than the Rodney King riots in terms of social change.
