The structure of a novel
For my thesis I have to discuss a Dutch novel. The structure is built up in 12 chapters. I have been thinking about why this could be. My first thought was that it refers to the hours of a day or the months in a year or maybe even to the fact that the romans didn't count in decimals.
After reading a review of another book of this guy I started thinking that he's referring to a structure that has been used before in history. The problem is that this book I'm discussing hasn't been discussed yet and I wouldn't know where the structure comes from.
If you can think of anything (from the romans/Greeks, musical pieces, verse rhythm,...) this could be connected with it would be greatly appreciated.
Help me, Jeebus!!!
