Saul Bellow

Saul Bellow died on Tuesday, aged 89. I am sad, he was one of my favorite authors

a Nobel Laureate and winner of the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award (three times)

He wrote about the moral conditions in the 20th century arguing that human integrity and intelligence can still win over dehumanising materialism.

Some wonderful works-Seize the Day, Herzog, Mr Sammler's Planet, Henderson the Rain King, Dean's December.
My personal favorite is Seize the Day and also To Jerusalem and Back, which is a journal of his visit to Jerusalem, very revealing...

RIP

The Adventures of Augie March would be my personal favourite I think. I've yet to read Seize the Day or To Jerusalem and Back though, so i'll check them out....

Haven't read anything of him. How would you compare him to I.B. Singer or Philipe Roth?
