Favourite Villain in a book

I know we have a long established "who is your favourite character" thread, but I thought it would be quite fun to start one on favourite villain. This is in line with Waterstones who are currently running this nationwide across their shops.

Orlando Crispe in 'Confessions of a Flesh Eater' by David Madsen

Actually I came up with that because I couldn't find a single villain in a book I liked. So just a way to cover up my awful memory

Richelieu is a good one. Milton's Lucifer is (mostly in the begining) great. Dostoievisky in The Devils do a great work with the communist/terrorists part...

Satan in Paradise Lost. Things really suffer when he is not on the page.

You know the scene it's very hum-drum
And my favorite song's entitled "Boredom"...

True.

And there's cute Mephistopheles in Goethe's Faust.

Doesn't him have the Best lines ? It is almost exciting to think a quoting context between him and Cpt. Ahab. Thinking of Herman Melville and villains, the Black Slaves in Benito Cereno with their leader, Babo, that was evil and pure evil and lots of evil, a villain...
