Lokomotiv Plovdiv thread

Stadium: “Lokomotiv” (current capacity: 13500)
Nickname: Cherno-belite(The black and white), Smurfovete(The smurfs)
Team kits: Black and White(primary), Black and Red(reserve)

Brief history: The club is officially founded in 1936 by railway employees under the name Jeleznichaski Sporten Klub(JSK) but experienced some name changes, mainly in the 1940s, carrying names such as JSK Levski, Chengelov, Torpedo,Slavia-Chengelov and ending up with Lokomotiv in 1951. The club could not brag with a lot of title successes, having won the Bulgarian championship only once in 2004. A curious fact, however, is its achievement of being the winner of the Soviet Army cup in 1983 while actually competing in the Bulgarian B grupa (the second division) at the time. The club’s biggest asset is however its fanbase which is one of the largest in Bulgaria. The Lokomotiv Plovdiv fanclub is the oldest in the country, being officially founded in 1988.

As well as up-to-date news, one can also find videos from some of the games

http://lportala.net/ (Official site of the fanclub)
The centre of the Loko Internet society! This site offers not only general statistics (both current and past) and news but is also the place for analytical articles, written by fans for the fans. Unfortunately, the site does not have an English version and such is not currently considered but there is an English forum section where non-Bulgarian speakers could surely acquire club related info, if needed.

The most recently launched fan site whose authors concentrate on the history(past players, kits etc), as well as posting analytical articles on past and present issues surrounding the club.

Loko Plovdiv - Pirin Blagoevgrad 0:0

A fairly boring game with not much going on,especially off the pitch. Yoshev got 5th yellow card so is gonna miss the cup game vs Svoge. On the bright side,I think we got about 700 minutes(or so I heard) with no goal conceded in A grupa matches.

Looks like only Sechkov and Morales agreed to sign new contracts, with the latter becoming second highest paid in the team(After Marto Kamburov). Stoyan Kolev,Zlatkovski, Samokishev and Rado Anev seem unlikely to do so and Yasen will have to start looking for replacements for some of them.

Where do you think they might end up? Maybe kolev will get his move abroad on a bosman?

He certainly would like to play abroad as I dont see him going to either Levski or CSKA atm while its not like other BG club could offer him much more. Rumour has it that he didnt agree on the salary bit as he was asking for 6000 Euro per month. This is affordable to the management as they even pay more to Kamburov but I wouldnt have agreed on it either. I mean as much as Kolev has been an important player to the club, he is not by miles better than the rest of the team. Also look at how many GKs are lined up at the moment. Kolev was meant to play in Italy now but the transfer fell through after Tasev's death. He and Stavrev(his supposed replacement) are both experienced and get a bit grumpy for being rotated, Jilkov is considered a good youth talent but he cannot get any official playing time cauz of that.

I know for Zlatkovski that he is unhappy for not being a starter which is fair enough of him to wish a move. Samokishev and Anev mystify me though. It was only Slavia that expressed some interest, they are both regulars by us and yet, they refuse so I dont know so far whats on their mind.

Bulgarian cup 1/8 final:

vs

-The game will take place tomorrow at 13:00 local time. Its an early hour but they take in account the possibility of extra time.
-As expected, the above four players are not in the group. This poses a serious problem for Yasen and I personally dont approve solid benching of players for not extending a contract but it doesnt make sense to let them play in a game where it could be experimented too (a bit).
-Mitko Iliev is a probable starter.
-Sportist Svoge are confident that could cause us trouble and I wouldnt be surprised. If we are to win, it will most likely be in a modest manner.

You should be winning this anyway, with or without them. What bugs me is that pointless benching of players who won't extend their contracts. They should have sold them or made them resign earlier, now they should accept the situation and do the best for the club which is to play the best 11.

Im guessing that they will not always stick to not including them in the squad because four players is a bit too much to ignore. The other option is to stack up replacements for them during the winter.

There are now rumours for a swap during the winter of Kolev for Milan Koprivarov and Emil Angelov which are for some reason ignored in Levski.

for the same reason actually. Don't know what kolev would be doing at levski tho, since he'll be in the same position he's now.

I dont know but putting a player with experience, that scored for you 6 goals in UEFA, to play with the youngsters would be pretty messed up for any BG team.

Bulgaria - Cup
16:31 December 12

FT Bansko 2 - 6 Cherno More Varna

FT Botev Plovdiv 4 - 2 Slavia Sofia

FT Chavdar Etropole 0 - 2 Kaliakra

FT Lokomotiv Sofia 1 - 0 Spartak Varna

FT Minyor 0 - 1 Pirin B.

FT Sportist Svoge [1 - 4] Lokomotiv Plovdiv

25' [0 - 1] D.S. Dakson

51' [1 - 1] Todorov

54' [1 - 2] Y. Vundev

75' [1 - 3] M. Kamburov

85' [1 - 4] V. Zlatinov

31' Chernomorets Burgas Burgas 0 - 1 Levski Sofia

Comfortable win for Lokomotiv despite the squad changes. Kamburov slowly starts to show his real self with being directly responsible for the first two goals and scoring the 3rd.

The game of the stage however is Botev vs Slavia where the former managed to snatch a surprising victory. Now it remains to be seen if Chernomorets does something against Levski and things can get really twisted in the cup this year(unlike the championship itself).

We gonna have to divide the forum into Sofian and provincial then

Im not too bothered about Angelov but would surely be a shame if we let Loko Sf get Dzaferovich(sp?)
