Romania - Bulgaria

Well tough match to start off our EC campaign. Good luck to our boys they will need it in the rain. Hopefully we can get a few goals and our defense won't make the usual childish mistakes.

Well what can I say.. we played shit for 85 minutes played well for 5 and some how we got a point. This is unexpectible, we lack any sort of decent player in midfield to help our defense, Stan tries but this is not his strong point. Unless things change over the next match we stand no chance in Holland ,unless Stoichkov's luck knows no bounds.
Good to see M.Petrov play so well for 10 minutes now I hope he will be able to do it for longer periods in our next match.

Romania were unlucky but with Izo's luck that was expected, I still can't understand the players smiling after a match like this one. This was pure tourment to watch for us fans and I hope Hero does something to change it ,since Hristo seems unable to change anything.

Romania were unlucky but letting goals in like that after just two players playing well from our team ,they have to look within their own team as to why they did not win this game.

Our midfield was pathetic for 99% of the match ,perhaps the worst display from our midfield I have seen in the last 2 years(far worse then when we got those two 3-0 losses two years ago), Berbatov was'nt his usual self(he had some sort of injury and played on shots), Stan and Yankovich were both inerpt in attack and in defense.
I hope things change but I'm doubtfull especially after our previous campaign started in similar fashion(2-0 lead for Croatia to a 2-2 draw away) and in the end we ended up drawing with Malta(a low point in Bulgarian Football history).
A high note was Tunchev ,Angelov and Wagner who played quite well despite the two goals and despite a midfield that was not helping them out. Angelov also placed the perfect pass for our secound goal and was overall our secound best player.
Topozakov made alot of mistakes ,he usually is pretty stable but in this match....
Petrov bailed us out in the end after much critism of him in Bulgaria he decided to play and the 10 minutes he played he looked like a world beater and a good leader. Those were the best 10 minutes by Petrov in years ,I hope he continues to play like that for longer periods.

Well, 2:2.. A fair result!p Considering the class of the teams, not the performances today!:smileani:
It could have been 3:0, but in the end, it may have been 2:3 as well..
The main thing is that we have to improve our game.. considerably, if we want to qualify!

Considerably is a light term ...we would need to improve massivly especially in the midfield.

I would'nt have liked to be a Romania fan had Bojinov gotten past that final defender. Dominate a match for 80 minutes and score two goals and then suddenly you loose the match ,the beauty of football I guess.

Romania played us off the park for 80 minutes then just collapsed after the shocking mistake by Lobont. Another very lucky result for Stoichkov, but I don't see qualifying with him as a coach, a luck can't carry all the time. Our midfield was non-existant today.

lol Yea, if Marto plays like he did for 10 minutes tonight he might be a star ..if not, he is just a good player with an attitude problem.

Well if Bulgaria didnt play 80 minutes they played 10 like Romania played 80 and the result was equaliser
I first saw Martin was a great player at Ateltico's 3rd goal on Camp Nou, well didnt matter as half a team was out but he showed very good speed and a great pass to El Nino's head.

i also really liked how blagoy georgiev played... He is a very good player and should start from now... peev and jankovich should never be called up anymore but this was a very good result and if we can beat slovenia on wednesday then we can have every reason to believe we can get 2nd spot.1st 60-65 minutes we played terrible but then we woke up, this kind of reminds me of the game against croatia 2 years ago in zagreb.. lets hope for a better ending in the group tho.

All is definitely not well just because Martin saved us! I can not believe Hristos team-selection. Is he getting money from some agent(s) or what!!!

About Blago, did he really play well (I was not able to watch the game). He is usually a bit clumsy amd very stiff...

And here are the goals (enjoy!):
