THIS IS GREAT NEWS NOT ONLY FOR LEVSKI but for bulgarian football as well
as long as we avoid fiorentina we will be ok.. 15/16 chance to avoid them so lets hope we avoid them.. this is a unique chance and now is the time to do it.. fortunatly i will be in bulgaria for the summer and will be in the stadium for the home match so im hoping to witness the 1st qualification of a bulgarian team in the CL.. also here is a question in the qualification round is it like it is in the 1st knockout round in the CL where the seeded team plays home second which will be terrific because if we qualify i will be there for the big party ... lets take it one step at a time tho.. 1st lets win the league, which is almost certain and then lets make it through from the 2nd round which shouldnt be so hard and then with a good draw we can find ourself in the groups. lets hope that the players dont get lightheaded and misunderstemate the opponents both in the 2nd and 3rd round.

levski- CL
cska, litex, and loko sofia- uefa cup
so will lokomotiv plovdiv agree to play intertoto... i think they will be the best representitive for bulgaria in the intertoto

yeah i heard that their financial situation got better so thats very good to hear. lets hope cska win the cup because otherwise cherno more are going to the uefa cup and they will humilate us but it will be excting to see them.
Dont teams usually get profit from the intertoto cup i mean should a lot of people go to the game especially if we beat the romanian team and play against the italian team in the final possibly palermo.
this year's intertoto has been made extremely simple and 4 good games and you are in and it would be amazing to get 4 teams in the uefa cup and if levski go to the Champions league we will have 1 team there as well.

Tickets in Bulgaria cost like $2 on average, and when you make let's say $10k on the gate, but have to pay like $25k in rent for a stadium (as LokoPd doesn't have one that meets UEFA regulations) you are pretty much in the red.

But it is indeed a good opportunity for a club to gather some international experience and I also hope one of LokoPd or Slavia to give it a shot.

The media is already starting to hype Levski for the CL and I hope the hysteria doesn't have the adverse effects it had in the past w/ our participants.

Even in Intertoto, there is some scope for profit but you need to advance fairly well, nearly till the end. For example, Marek would have done financially well if they got to play Dortmund(I think it was them) given that they didnt miss that penalty versus Genk.

I think 9ti Septemvri, now Plovdiv Stadium, is not in accordance with a lot of criterea.

See, it was a fantastic stadium 10 years ago (if not more). Since then, no one has played there, no one has been usuing it, hence it is half ruined. The grass and seats might still be all fine, but I assume ( havent seen it) that all rest is in complete mess and a ruined state and it will take lost of money to recoctrsuct thingd like dressing rooms, etc.

Yeah, with the introduction of even higher standards for international venues even the National stadium and "Lazur" in Burgas will probably fail to get a license for 2008/09, let alone Levski and CSKA's stadiums, or any of the Plovdiv stadiums for that matter.

I have the feeling that the stadium in Lovech (about to enter into major re-construction this summer) will soon enough be the only one suitable for professional football in the whole country...

Beeing seeded in the 3rd qual round for CL is a great thing.
Levski has to keep its players and it will play 75% in the Champions League Group Stage.
Of course, its harder with Spartak or Osasuna but not impossible and anyway...its not a obligation to play them.
Though Sportul will not be there, zdiaua or rrrrrapid will be seeded so Galata falls itself.

16 Romanian Champion (Both Steaua and Rapid have enough - Sportul can't be champion now)

unseeded
17 Fenerbahçe Tur 28,634 C Q2
18 Fiorentina Ita 28,020 C Q3
19 Austria Aus 27,723 C Q3
20 Osasuna Esp 24,912 C Q3

30 Zürich Swi 10,537 C Q2
31 Djurgården Swe 9,372 C Q2
32 Mladá Boleslav Cze 8,769 C Q2

Everything other than the Romanian championship has been decided. The table may be changed though depending on the result of the Italian Moggigate scandal.

Good luck to Levski. Hopefully we will see all of Liberec, Levski, Steaua (or Rapid), Shaktar and CSKA Moscow in the Champions league.

The Roamer formerly known as Borruma II is now under a new alias.

We don't fear any of the unseeded teams in the qualifying rounds, not after this Spring we don't! And I agree w/ you that Fiorentina is probably the only one, that shouldn't fear us either. Maybe Fenerbahce as well. But we must show respect to all teams, especially Salzburg, Ujpest/MBoleslav in the second qualifying round and Austria, SpartakM, Hearts and MaccabiH in the third qualifying round. We are favorites, but we should stay cool headed, if we don't want to repeat the fiasco of Dynamo Kyiv and Celtic from last year.

Bulgarian clubs also have a certain Belgian complex, that I rather not think too much about. Let's hope Litex broke that curse last year.

It will probably cost less money to build a brand new stadium than raise this 30+ year old beauty back to shape... A pity really, I think "The Big House" (as they call it in Plovdiv) is the only 2 tiered stadium ever build in Bulgaria.

But how can you find somebody w/ $50 million to spare, when gate receipts average $10k per game?!? The club owners want big concessions from the local authorities and neither Sofia, nor Plovdiv or Varna seem willing to cooperate...

And the issue is very pressing, because the new UEFA standards come to bear in 2008/09 and I think that NOT ONE SINGLE FOOTBALL VENUE IN BULGARIA MEETS THEM. And Litex are the only ones that are about to start work on re-fitting their stadium. I don't know if the 24 months we have will be enough...

Yes, I hope so too. After this year's heroics of Bulgarian and especially Romanian teams in the UEFA Cup and the show the Russians, the Ukranians, the Poles and the Czechs have put on in the same competition in previous years - it is time to move to the next level indeed.
