Svetoslav Petrov

This midfielder played for Kuban in first part of Russia Premier League but then disappeared. Who knows where he plays since September 2005?

Well he played for CSKA Sofia and then moved Russia, to FC Kuban. He even played for Bulgaria B team recently, in November

Svetlyo, yes, he did pretty well in Kuban, didn't he? With Ivailo Petkov...
His contract with Kuban expired and he went to Samsunspor, but that was in the summer ... I don't think he stayed there...

wow u serious? u must be joking. i never understand transfers like this.. he can go back to bulgaria and play in his home country and he instead goes off to Azer. i would understand players transfaring to bigger leagues but this is unbeliavable. if its true.

I checked the website of Neftchi, he's not listed there http://www.neftchipfc.com/players.php
and the website is updated
but even if he plays there, that wouldn't surprise me, it's all about the money, football players are not that dumb when it comes to that

He is indeed on the verge of joining “Neftchi”. Moreover, few days ago he won an international "Commonwealth Cup" tournament with his new club in Moscow and he even scored a goal from a free kick in the final.

At any rate, he won’t be the first Bulgarian player in Azerbaijan. We already have few players from Bulgaria in Azeri league (Asen Nikolov, Martin Stankov etc.)

well... it’s really a long story, but to keep it short, we are now experiencing real football boom in Azerbaijan. Some time ago (probably few years ago) our government passed several legislative bills that encourage and support investments into domestic football (tax breaks, government support and guarantees, etc.) and now clubs in Azerbaijan are getting all the support they need from sponsors and others and now they able attract quality foreigners and retain prospective youngsters in the country. And recently, our president signed new state football development program which also designed to strengthen the level of football in Azerbaijan. So, hopefully, as local clubs get stronger, this will also boost the performance of our NTs.
