Blagoy Georgiev

The Slavia Sofia player has been linked with a £1million move to Celtic in the next transfer window in January, so he could be joining up with his International team-mate Stilian Petrov at Parkhead.

Can anyone tell me about Georgiev? What type of player he is, and obviously if he's as good as his friend Stilian Petrov?

He is called "the Bulgarian Beckham" and that's all you need to know about him
Right Winger, local sex-symbol, younger than Becks though (23y old), he is expected to start in today's game against Sweden- so if you have the opportunity watch the game..

He seems inconsistent at times, which is logical cauz many Bulgarian players tend to become less determined if they see themselves "stuck" within their local team, but nevertheless he can often do miracles in midfield, even on a NT level. I suppose that a move to a club such as Celtic would definitely make him work much harder on trying to be top-notch every game. Tbh its about time for him to move away cauz he has been linked with western clubs for years but it has all been mainly rumours.

He made quite an impression in the game. Like Beckham against Argentina.

This is the only positive thing from the game- that he'll miss the next one and Stoichkov will be forced to try someone else in his position

...and you guys, when will stop crushing us?

Well usually this guy is among the few to show quality playing for Slavia. Still he is not that young anymore, my guess is all he can acomplish is being above the average player for any western european team. And hard work is definitely required as he is not fit physically for 60-70 games a year. He barely plays in 6-8 serious matches in Bulgaria (in one championship) and still his team fails to show any character in most of these games

Playing on high level, giving the best each player can. That's what I mean. The Bulgarian League IMO should consist of 8 to 10 teams at the most if we want to improve. Otherwise, we can observe how a team changes their style each game, the players here are simply not motivated enough.

I have no idea, it is almost like I expect it by now. For some reason things work really well against you, I mean it even did when you where at your best in -94.

Will be visiting your beautiful country in 1.5 days. ouch

I used to like the kid and I am still willing to support him, one of the few players in the Bulgarian championship that eventually could have some potential. Unfortunately, as it usually happens, the more attention he gets the less he cares.

blagoy is very talented, without a doubt, but he must leave as sooner as it's possible. The bulgarian championship is really weak, and he couldn't improve himself there. Best bulgarian talents left Bulgaria, when they were very young - Berbatov, Martin and Stilyan Petrov, Bojinov... and the european clubs really helped them to reach a higher level. Here in Bulgaria the training facilities, sport basis, youth coaches and other key structures are not very good, and that's why a lot of players here cannot realize their potential.
Blagoy's time is coming, he must leave and join some german or spanish team. Here he would lose his motivation, and transform into a mediocre player
