Stilian Petrov

Hi,

I've created a thread on the Celtic forum looking ahead to some of my team's players who will be invovled on International duty this week. This obviously includes Stilian Petrov for Bulgaria.

I'm looking for a member from the Bulgarian forum, who will be watching the match against Croatia at the weekend, to provide a small report on Stilian's performance in the match on the Celtic forum to keep us Celts who are interested in his progress updated.

I'm not looking for any professional report or anything, just a member's views on the match and how Petrov played really.

Would anyone be interested?

The link to the thread in the Celtic forum is below.

https://www.xtratime.org/forum/showthread.php?t=162823

Cheers.

i would love to but I cant watch it.

By the way, one of the reasons I like Celtic a lot is Stilian. The other one is U2

What are teh chances that he will stay next season. in the Bulgarian press there is lot of speculation of his transfer -Everton is the name they use the most. ?

he kind of struggled with an injury and he was doubtful for the game... he had a below average performance....

And Hristo Stoichkov will stop calling him for the NT games if Stilian resumes with his un-tactical behaviour. Stoichkov complaned about his captain, who doesn't do what he asks him to do. Personally I think that without Stilian Petrov the current Bulgarian NT worths a shit. Stanley RULEZ!

Hristo didint say anything. It was 6 dni Sport quoting a inside NT source that said that HS was furious with Stilian. Teh latter didnt play that way the Barca legend wanted him and openly apparantly said "i play diff in Celtic and I will contnue".

Evene if all that BS is true, Patrov has no seriosu altenrantive in teh NT so it is all unde rthe carpet already I guess.

Is Stilian Petrov still being played in that stupid defensive midfield position for Bulgaria like he was in Euro 2004?

I'll never understand why every Bulgarian manager seems to think that this is his best position.

Petrov is far too talented to be deployed in such a limited role, at Celtic he has the freedom to run all over the pitch and get forward to support the strikers and assist in goalscoring, something which he does brilliantly.

No offence, but Bulgaria aren't exactly the most talented team in Europe, so it seems crazy to me that the good players you do have are played in 'alien' positions.

True. I got very angry when I saw the experiments with Martin Petrov, for example, shifting him from one side of the field to the other. I don't know what is worse though- make one player change position or rearrange the whole squad to fit this player

Sorry for asking the obvious, but Stilian and Martin aren't related are they?
