Thanx, Danny boy

I think that it is a loss that the Romanians wont be there, cuz its alway great to see EE countries taking part inn big football events.

Care to say how is the situation in the Romanian squad, I mean - new generation, players to watch, coach and etc?

well the "stars" of romanian football right now are mutu and chivu, but everybody knows that. some less unknow players to watch out for are florin bratu, 24 who joined galatasaray in september and has been really good(2nd top scorer of the team after sukur), mirel radoi, 22 who currently plays for steaua but is constantly linked with moves to big teams like man u inter and so on...probably the best defender right now after chivu for romania, then we have nicolae mitea who currently plays for ajax and if im not mistaken he's 18 years old...he's a great left winger with good dribble but unfortunately he has to mature a lot be4 he can be a star..

i'm gonna post more but unfortunately i have to go to work right now.

The managerial position and directorship of the NT is in serious concern. Besiktas' manager, Mircea Lucescu who won them and Galatasaray the Süperlig is wanted but the FRF boss, Sandu, wants to keep Iordanescu the one who got us to 1994 fianls but then failed to qualify us for EURO2004. He's been on and off the job for about 10 years now and everyone sees we need a change but for Sandu. Lucescu is the one who can build a new team and get us into WC, not Iordanescu. He can't coach defence to save his life and thats exactly what we need!

As for the players, apart from the ones Danny has mentioned (and keep an eye on Mirel Radoi who will go to a BIG club very soon [Manchester United, Bayern, Inter, Real etc.]) there's Nantes' Claudiu Keserü who is 17 years old and was 2nd top scorer of the U-19 World Cup when he was 16 even though Romania was knocked out at the group stage. Nantes' fans are superbly excited about his progress and now that he has recieved permission to play, will hopefully do well in the first team.

Marius Niculae is also one to watch if he ever stays fit. He is about 23 and plays for Sporting CP in Portugal. Lucian Sinmartean (Panathinkaikos), Gabriel Tamas, Ovidiu Petre (both Galatasaray) and Ianis Zicu (Dinamo) are all young players worth keeping an eye on.

I can't say anyting but agree about Mitea. He played for Dinamo Bucharest before, didn't he, there was also something between him and Rapid,I remember hearing about that

A brilliant left footer, from what I have seen of his appearances in Ajax, he's too young indeed, even younger than me

Italy will be too tough. But Sweeden and Denmakr are doable. I know they might have an edge over us, but we have a fair chance.
