Ot: Sars

I heard that your Ministry of Health has announced that a man who got infected from SARS in Canada is currently on quaranteen at a hospital of Sofia.

Any news on that? Does your country have the facilities to face such crisis?

Naturally, I'm REALLY worried. We all know what is going on in the borders between Greece and Bulgaria, so if it spreads even a bit in Bulgaria... it will come in Greece too.

I know that Bono is not in Bulgaria right now, but the rest of you (Luba for example)... TAKE CARE!

Well, I just saw it in our online press.

And I am going back home for Easter.

Anyway, my prayers are with this guy in the hospital ...

The disease is more dangerous in the sense that it can mutate in a very short time and experts have a really hard time finding a cure for it. HOWEVER, Less than 10% of those infected actually died from the disease. Most of the victims are 70+…
In Toronto Chinese restaurants are almost empty. The WHO put out a health advisory for treavellers and the city will lose millions of dollars….

I had a feeling that would be the case.
I'm glad it didn't get to Eastern Europe!

Yes, it's good that it didn't come around. I could imagine what could have happened especially in Bulgaria-peope here are not very concerned about their health

Marius, how are you, how's in Toronto, better?

I am fine thank you for asking.
Toronto is in fact much better than people think. There were two other deaths but these were people that had already contracted the disease like 2 months ago. There were no new cases here for more than 2 weeks now, and there have been no deaths outside the hospital quarantine.
In fact the WHO has lifted the travel advisory on Toronto and there are now all kinds of excellent tourism packages. For instance, for $80 (CAD) you can buy a package to go to a fancy restaurant, a baseball game and a show such as Lion King or Mamma Mia. For $125 (CAD) you can get everything mentioned above plus a night at a 5-star hotel. There are all kinds of excellent deals here that are supposed to get tourism started again...
