Im sure some of their 'traditional' long time supporters will once again 'donate' some loose change to the club

Those people can donate all they can but in AFL world you can only spend so much on players !!!

Carlton will never get over this for 10 years !!! Not only have they lost draft picks but those very same draft picks are bargaining tools !!! There is no way that donated money will see quality players head to Carlton at Trade time for the next couple of seasons !!

as always, the AFL has to make an example out of Carlton.

Carlton still have those young players who have experience now from last season and they have the likes of Allan, kouta, ratten, Lance, Freeborn and Hulme all returning.

Carlton still have good players if no injuries occur.

Currently, i think they have to worry about keeping their players as apparently they all walked out this morning after not agreeing on the pay cut!

Once again you are right COUTS, but as long as they keep pumping money into the Blues, Carlton will always be around. If it were any other club, there would be a good chance that that club would go broke in a few years.

What the Hell are you talking about !!!!

Isnt this Carltons 2nd or is it 3rd offense of breaching the salary cap ???

I reckon Fremantle were more harshly dealt with last season when they suspended Freo from the pre season draft for an offense the AFL thought Fremanlte would commit !!!
At the end of the day they anded Fabian Francis's career and Freo ended up $200,000 under the salary cap when they were only offering Francis 130K

Damn right it is !!

Just wondering, could the AFL actually strip Carlton of its 1995 flag? I mean do they have the authority to do it? Ben Johnson got stripped of his Gold medal after the event for breaking the rules, so why shouldnt the Blues, considering they have breached the cap more often than not?

And didnt they suggest to the AFL that Essendon should be stripped of the '93 flag for exactly the same reasons?

Nah they would never do that. It is a part of the game now. Only Carlton has been caught out and other clubs haven't yet.

what i mean is that if it was say Essendon or another team, they would have lossed their first two draft picks and thats it. the fine would be less and they would still have their next 3 drafts to look at.

Another time was with Greg Williams when he touched the umpire and got 9 weeks. it was after the game and teh unpire had no business standing infront of him like that. Williams just nugded him aside and got 9 weeks.

Wanganeen strangles the unpire and gets nothing.

But becuase it was a Carlton player, they had to make that example out of him.

The AFL has always had it in for the Blues and you know it!

John Elliot pissed the AFL off that many times in the end they were probably hanging to strangle Carlton.

Some relief for the Bluebaggers.... the AFL wont impose any more fines and/or draft penalties. They appear to be happy with the current situation at Carlton.
Must be said however that the Blues will still be paying the maximum amount under the salary cap, this despite cutting almost $750,000 from their player wages bill!!
