Gary Ayres swings the axe, brylcreem, mouthguard...

8, count 'em 8 players were delisted from the Adelaide squad today:

Ryan Fitzgerald - Promising never-was.
Robert Shirley - Honest flanker, nothing more.
Bryan Beinke - See Fitzgerald.
Hayden Skipworth - Tiny rover, was never going to make it.
Evan Hewitt - Honest utility player.
Matthew Shir - Most promising of the bunch, has a future.
Laurence Angwin - Bigger waste of space than Tom Gilligan.
Michael Handby - WHO?!

By the same token, promising kids Martin Mattner, Nathan Bock and Ben Rutten were promoted onto the senior list from the rookie list.

"They picked on the wrong man - and the wrong country. It was like pouring petrol onto a fire as far as I was concerned.

There's an old saying that the dog that barks loudest never bites. They did a lot of barking but we bit them pretty hard. Uruguay's attitude just showed how scared they were of us - it was their last resort."

- Vincenzo Grella, Parma & Australia.

Evan Hewitt was a bit of a surprise !!!

Being a West Aussie would Freo have a look at him in the draft? He'd be handy down back ...

we chopped

homewood, ednie and POYAS! :fero:

that kid should NOT have been dropped, hes got game trust me on that, a ready made wingman-cum-halfback.......must have a bad attitude or something b/c he certainly can play and Ive always wondered y the feck he wasnt getting a senior game when he was getting 30plus touches and 10 marks every week in the twos....best VFL player by a country mile, salary cap issues?

Homewood - promising, well sort of, key position defender but done his shoulder twice so damaged goods

Ednie - street smart footballer unfortunately very small and slight

Clinton king should have been delisted too
