Fremantle - The new era............

Guy's I have just got this feeling that next season Freo will finally get their sh!t together and make the 8. They now have pieced together a pretty handy team even if I must say so myself

B - Walker ................. Jones................Parker
HB- McPharlin..............Pavlich...............Grove r
C - Headland..............Hasleby.........Cunningham
HF- Koops.................Longmuir.........Waterhouse
F - Farmer...................Croad.............Medhurs t
Foll- Simmonds , Bell , Cook
Int - Carr , McManus, Polak , Sandilands

Emergencies from - Seigert , Haddrill , Haines , T Longmuir , Metropolis , Woods , Hayden , Ugle , Dodd , Shipp
Plus then Draft picks 15 , 52 , 60 + 68 + 1 pre season pick

The big Key for next season will be a little guy called Aaron Sandilands who stands at 213cm and weighs in at a whopping 119kg ( and getting heavier ) . I had the privelage of watching him destroy Perth in the WAFL for 1 quarter this season when he pulled in 13 marks in one quarter before he hurt his leg . He is pretty quick a very good handball & his kicking from what I hear is improvong out of site.

Theres an air of freshness atthe club eh? the club recruited well last season, consolidated this season, now refined, and should be ready for a serious tilt at its first finals

good side

abt sandilands one question: "pretty quick" ???? surely u jest?

If that is the case then Sheedy's wife or mrs Palmer ain't gonna be getting much action then?

Actually i'm surprised you guys are still talking AFL! :eekani:. The Rugby league GF and Rugby International & Super 12 are long gone and no-one talks about those sports up here at this time of year

Would the situation be the same with the AFL if the national draft didn't exist

BTW, who did Sydney get and are they any good????

The squad looks promising alright - the only thing is 50% of the eight is already taken with last years final four - Brisbane, Collingwood, Port and Adelaide improving brilliantly with each protagonist taking at least one proven star:

Brisbane: Caracella - Favourites for three-peat anyway.

Collingwood: Youngest list in the AFL and missed the flag by 8 points. Can only improve, and Shane Woedwodin will add much needed pace and drive through the midfield and together with Licuria will take some of the pressure from Buckley.

Port Adelaide: Byron Pickett? Are they serious? Now have two of the hardest men in the competition to go along with their glittering galaxy of young stars.

Adelaide: Carey - Big question marks but all the niggling injuries should be healed releasing Mark Stevens to go down back where he is best to sure up a small but good back-6. The King will instantly take the opposition's best defender allowing Burton, Welsh and Burns a little extra space.

The question is are Freo good enough to snatch a place 5-8? Richmond and Hawthorn have improved out of sight, while Sydney with a fresh slate is always a threat and the Bombers will be around the mark regardless of their losses with a fit Hird and Lloyd.

The big roughie will be Carlton under Pagan with the best two kids and mercenary in the land as well as guys like Kouta, Ratten, Camporeale, Hulme, Manton, etc to regain full-fitness.

I reckon the Dockers will snatch a spot 7-8.

"They picked on the wrong man - and the wrong country. It was like pouring petrol onto a fire as far as I was concerned.

In Victoria , WA & SA its AFL 24-7 ( anyway in my workplace )

Sydney did OK I guess In picking up Nick Davis. He is Good I guess but he will never a be a Des Headland

Couts, is Fabian Francis gonna be in that squad of yours or has a season in that toilet-water WAFL fcuked him up too much?

If he's fit and in AFL form he'd be a certainty for the linkman role on the half-back-flank.

Freo & Francis have mutually agreed to part companies. The issue is dead

Poor bastard ...

His last kick in AFL football was that open-goal poster which blew the game against Hawthorn in that 2001 Semi-Final at Football Park.

The funny thing is that 7 days later the same fate was suffered by Trent Croad with that poster against Essendon that would've won the game.

Where did both guys end up? ...

Fremantle.

Anthony we were all saying this at the end of of last year as well but I ain't gonna get excited yet. The acquisition of Headland is terrific plus the extension of Connolly's contract as well. Pity that Brown and McPhee had to be lost as a result.

MR MEAZZA, Quentin Leach retired a few years back and I think Toia is still on the Dockers list.
