richo re-signs

Not even the fact he could have earned considerably more at Carlton – where new coach Denis Pagan has long been a huge admirer of Richardson’s talents – could sway him to move nor the fact the Tigers were moving to structure his new contract more towards a performance based deal.

And even though his future was still not decided – Richardson elected to play and risk injury and therefore his future in essentially a meaningless match in London for the Tigers and not only that but took over the captaincy for the day and responded with a best afield performance.

It is the kind of example that should be a lesson to any AFL player who thinks his problems can only be solved by leaving his club and is one that even all those Richardson critics amongst rival fans would have to congratulate.

i got that from afl.com.au I thought it summed up pretty much what i feel and how it is, Im a very happy camper He is our number 1 player

Speaking of Richo and afl.com.au, did anyone see the ridiculous poll they were running today?:

"Which award is Matthew Richardson more likely to win in the next three years?

- Brownlow Medal
- Norm Smith Medal
- Coleman Medal"

Talk about putting the cart before the horse ... but well done to him on winning the contract.

"They picked on the wrong man - and the wrong country. It was like pouring petrol onto a fire as far as I was concerned.

There's an old saying that the dog that barks loudest never bites. They did a lot of barking but we bit them pretty hard. Uruguay's attitude just showed how scared they were of us - it was their last resort."

No worries ...

I agree that the Brownlow is the most 'realistic' ...

The fact that Richo received the most votes of any Tiger showed that if he plays well the umpires reward him ...

If he can string together 6 great games and 6 good games in any given minor-round then he may well win it one day.

In all fairness Richo's a good bloke and it shows if he performs the Whiteies reward him well which is a good sign. Not his fault injuries continue to haunt him,But good luck to him he's yellow and Black through and through.
