It will be interesting to see how the Kangas boys react to one of their own in the top-job. Pagan has always had that distance between Arch, Stevo and the boys but Laidley has played with most of the senior players ...

"They picked on the wrong man - and the wrong country. It was like pouring petrol onto a fire as far as I was concerned.

There's an old saying that the dog that barks loudest never bites. They did a lot of barking but we bit them pretty hard. Uruguay's attitude just showed how scared they were of us - it was their last resort."

This is where I think the Kangaroos are on the bones of their Arse !! I feel for Dean Laidley , he is the fall guy . This is a few seasons before his time & I feel his appointment was made cause he was the cheapest & not the best. I hope the Kanga's fans do not make him the scapegoat when in the next few seasons they fill in the bottom rings of the table....I may be wrong , But I reckon I am right. Rodney Eade knocked it back cause he will not work for a pissy $250,000 , Brian Royal is the man who I felt shouldve been given the job , but he too probably asked to much

All I will say this was not a decision made in the interest of onfield success.

Its going to be a tough task for Deano to live up to the mould that Pagan has built,But never the less it's an interesting move by the Kangas becaus -e it seems that laidley has the respect of many of his players or future ones shall I say.

Good luck to Dean, I partly remember those days when he was wearing an Eagles jumper He knows what it is like in the big time with the 96 premiership but too bad he missed out on the 92 triumph with the Eagles
