And you're talking about if SA entered a team in 1987 they would have won well they would have got their players from the local SANFL wouldn't they?
KI, you misinterpret my point ...
West Coast were the only interstate entry who had the option of the absolute cream of their state league. No other interstate team had this luxury, and West Coast's initial 1987 list and resulting pickups in following seasons as an established club basically gifted them the two premierships in 92 and 94 and that magnificent unbroken successive finals run.
Since players from that initial entry have retired the Eagles have been sh1thouse - my point was that if WCE didn't have the luxury of that initial talent then they'd be in the same boat as the Dockers.
Re my 1987 SA team call - if the Crows or other enitity had come in at the same time as WCE and the Bears there would be no contest. Players such as Kernahan, Naley, Antrobus, Mickan, Williams, Platten, Hall, Bradley, etc could've all been lured back to play alongside the Jarmans, McDermott, McGuinness, Hodges, etc - not to mention the fact that guys like Wanganeen may never have left for interstate in the following years as the team would've already been established, and would've more than likely had at least a flag or two or three.
