Easily Fletcher and Hay are the favourites. Fletcher is better in my opinion. He rebounds from 50 twice as much as anyone from Essendon. And he also has a great spoil. And can be very important up front. Graham is also very good.

how can u say hay and fletcher are easily favourites?? Gaspar is all australian centr-half-back and takes the best forwarfd week in week out whether its a full forward, centre half forward or flanker/pocket.

one on one gaspar is number 1 of that theres not much doubt, hes better than fletcher even but what brings him back is his dismal kicking skills, but one on one I havent seen him get his colors lowered for 3 seasons, yeah Lloyd kicked 4 on him this year but 3 were free kicks and just think the amount of times the ball was flying into the bomber forward line. Hay is awesome, theres nothing separating them

I rate Hay and Gaspar higher than Dustin Fletcher. Fletcher DOES get bags kicked on him occasionly, he's always had trouble with big guys eg - Sav Rocca, Nathan Thompson. You also must take into account the players playing around Fletcher. I reckon i'd do ok in the Essendon backline if i had Solomon, Henneman, Wellman etc etc around me.

What makes Gaspar so special is that he can play on smaller guys too. He RARELY gets beaten by anyone (although he struggled with Daniel Chick a few weeks ago ) He is stronger than he looks and he can run with the best of them, super player.

Jonathan Hay....boy oh boy, he is a freak. He hasn't had more than 4 goals kicked on him since 1999, the 2 guys to kick 4 on him were pretty fair players too....(Silvagni last week and Lloyd last year when he got 4 of the most undeserved goals you will ever see) He is in the top 3 at the club for the 100 metre sprint and he's one of the strongest too. The special thing about Jonny is that even if he is having a poor day in terms of creativity he will still knuckle down and stop his opponent. He will be a great.

Out of the 3 mentioned, its a tuff call. Fletcher has to play at full-back, Gasper has to play at half-back, Hay has to play either positions. I would choose Gasper, only coz he has the more experience. In time Hay will be a legend at Glenferrie, but right now Gasper takes the points. Fletcher is a champion too, but lets not forget the calibre of his team-mates, at a lesser club he would probably be even better.

For the record, i voted 'other'... the person in my mind was M.Martyn..... with a mug like that, who would dare try to upstage him.... heheheehee
