The (next) End of Aka?

CONTROVERSIAL AFL star Jason Akermanis' stint with Brisbane Lions may be over after a scathing "can't coach" barb directed at Lions coach Leigh Matthews appeared on an email from his personal address.

Akermanis was forced to contact Matthews last night in a desperate bid to avoid a career-ending fallout.

It followed an online stoush with a fan in which a reply from Akermanis's web address declared: "My coach is a f... wit and can't coach but you wouldn't know this because you know it all."

Akermanis had suggested in his column in The Courier-Mail that football would never take off in Australia because it lacked courage and was boring.

In retaliation, football fan Craig Tillotson described AFL and rugby league as: "Sports where players can't control their off-field behaviour and where the only thing that puts bums (and not very bright ones) on seats is thuggery and grubbery.

"As for that one elusive goal, at least football doesn't award a point for missing.

"Stick to handstands, as it's clear your mouth and your opinion should be kept to yourself. Just ask your coach."

Tillotson posted Akermanis's response on a football chat room where it soon became the hot topic.

Akermanis claimed responsibility for the email last night, but claimed his brother Rory managed his website and was authorised to respond on his behalf.

"I stopped doing it two months ago after I got sacked," Akermanis claimed.

"Rory just teed off at a bloke who he thought was having a crack at me and he's still upset at Leigh for dropping me.

"The buck stops with me.

"I let my brother do it, so I take responsibility."

Akermanis said he was at a business meeting in Dutton Park at the time the email was sent, and declared his associates would vouch for his attendance.

Akermanis's website was shut down last night.

"He is clearly just a soccer fan who didn't like what I wrote about his sport in the paper and is out to get me," he said.

"That was a private conversation, we had no idea it would be made public."

Matthews is clearly fed-up with his wayward star.

Akermanis was dropped from the Brisbane team earlier this season after powerbrokers at the club grew tired of him publicly commenting on team issues.
i'm surprised he left out buggery (when referring to league, anyway) p

still.. ahaha, caught out.
