Are Brisbane in decline?

Well many are wondering are the Countries most dominating side in the AFL in the last 2-3 years in decline? Well they seem to be struggling and make your own opinion about this one,Well mine is no chance whatsoever whats going to happen is the Lions are going to slide themselves in a perfect position for September and with all their class and Experience they will be up there for the big one again.
Some may say that They've lost the hunger well lets look at a few factors come September Port have to prove that they are'nt a regular season side,Adelaide have to show that they can Produce consistency, west Coast are a Young and gifted side but with not enough finals experience,Sydney are a darkhorse yet are'nt to convincing enough to prove they can get to the big one.The Pies still lack that something to be up their at Brisbanes level I think it's Mental toughness.
As for anyone else Kangaroos, essendon,Hawthorn and freo well they're all just making up the numbers.

I said on another forum that this game may well be the most significant home and away game for two seasons - the last being Round 10, 2001 when the baton of dominance passed from Essendon to Brisbane at the GABBA.

Port's gritty 1 point win at the GABBA has blown apart any remaining vestiges of Brisbane's dominance, and now the boys from Alberton are undeniably the team to beat from now through to the near future.

"They picked on the wrong man - and the wrong country. It was like pouring petrol onto a fire as far as I was concerned.

There's an old saying that the dog that barks loudest never bites. They did a lot of barking but we bit them pretty hard. Uruguay's attitude just showed how scared they were of us - it was their last resort."

Brisbane are tough to beat - they only loast by 8 points to Essendon and 1 to point to Port.

If they don't finish in the top 4 - then I would say they would need all players on deck to have any chance of 3 straight grand final wins.

Still, I would be very nervous playing Brisbane home or away in a straight elimination game come September.
However, strange that it may seem, they wouldn't worry me like the 2 prevoius years on Grand Final day.

anyone watching that match can say they are clearly the best two teams in the comp, brisbane are not in the decline - yet, and im sure come sept they`ll be primed to be a major threat..they have a few injuries which has exposed them but nevertheless are a very good outfit..with players like voss and akermanis how can you go wrong?

how can a club not be in decline after winning two premierships in a row??

i believe that Brisbane seem to be struggling in terms of injuries. some players such as akermanis stated that many players hvae these little nagging injuries which are hard to get over during the season.

they did have Lappin and few others out. So i dont think that they should be criticised or said to be declining. if they are, its a slow decline, not a huge one.

in the end, its clear that Port and Brisbane are still up there. I believe that Adelaide should be mentioned as well. they definately have a good team, and if Carey stays fit and healthy come finals, they will make it far.

Freo, Sydney and West Coast are young or inexperienced at such high levels at the moment in terms of current players.

Collingwood?? they do well against the lower teams but obviously are not the team that brisbane, port, adelaide are.

I would still put my money on Brisbane winning the flag. They are the best, the most experienced and this mid-season form drop will do them good as the pressure is finally off their backs and on to Port Adelaides. And the Power certainly don't need pressure going into September, they generate enough themselves by failing in the big matches.

Remember a thing with the Lions, despite winning the 2001 & 2002 Premierships, they did not win the minor premiership in either year. So they have showed that the home & away season doesn't really mean much when it comes to finals time.
