Should the FMVP award be replaced by something else?

Seriously, it's basically a glorified Player of the Week award.

There should be an award which takes into account all playoff performances. Right now people get awarded for regular season and finals greatness but the first three rounds of playoffs? are these meaningless?

I find it kind of sad how Iguodala got rewarded while playing very limited role in GSW this season and in postseason too. While Curry set a playoffs three point record...

Maybe they should just have a Playoffs MVP?

Although, I wouldn't replace the award completely because it has so much history.

The problem is the amount of games played by the candidates for the award. Throughout the first 2 rounds Griffin looked like the best player in the playoffs... then crashed out. I fear it would create even more subjective voting rendering it useless. I guess the NBA loves to award winners based on overall regular season record and in the finals the champs.

Playoffs MVP would still be awarded to a member of the title-winning team in most cases...it's just that it'll more often go to their best player.
