NBA Regular Season 13/14 General Discussion Thread

So the season has begun.

Rockets look pretty good with Howard/Asik tandem actually working well so far.

Nets vs the Heat looked like a club which can do big things as well, especially given the short period they've had to gel as a team.

Thunder without Westbrook ain't much.

But overall too early to make judgements.

Big games are easy than the other games, unfortunately. Every times we have the control the games, under the control the games, during the games we had the some possibilities, some big chances, some big okazyons, something like that but what can I do, sometimes? And….it’s the football, that’s the football, something happened. Everything is something happened. - Fatih Terim

I don't see the Bulls doing any damage to the Nets or Heat come playoff time. We could have problems against the Pacers and maybe the Sixers.

I was looking at some of the predictions. One guy had Golden State going all the way. They're an awesome team on paper but injuries could make them doubtful.

Most of the predictions I'm looking at have the Heat back in the finals (not surprising as they have perfect chemistry and championship experience).

But the only thing that surprises me is that some of these guys have the Thunder headed back to the finals. I don't see the sense in that. Clippers, Rockets, sure, but Thunder? Not sure how they've improved.

As far as MVPs are concerned. Most of the analysts have James, Paul, Durant, and Rose.
I could see the award given to James or Paul, not sure about Durant. I'm not sold on Rose either for this season, teams are a lot tougher this time around. Maybe next season.

I think one player that could potentially surprise and steal the award is James Harden. He's a shooting guard but he plays a tremendous role in Houston.

I SEE alot of flaws in thunder, they are one on one team. That is westbrook and durant got to beat the other team all by themselves. 2 years ago they had harden to help them, last year they had kevin martin.... this year they have none. Even Kevin Martin was somewhat helpful last year, and would be considered huge loss.
I see frustration growing in durant this season..and possibly leave when free agency arrives.I mean heck , they needed durant to score 42 points to beat the friggin jazz.

I agree on your choices for league MVP.I will add Dwight Howard as well, this might be a come back year for him. He does look good with the start of the season. Last year too much laugh was made on him, this year he will rebound.

Houston seems scary to me, and I seriously hope they dont get to finals... because I think as a matchup they will be tough for Miami. Having both asik and howard, means having complete 48 minutes off strong rim protection. That will hurt Miami.

Don't rate Deron much as well. They will go as far as KG and Pierce will carry them.

Carter-Williams is impressing. I just realized Philly also has a new coach. One of Pop's assistant coaches. Could play a factor in their early streak as well.

I agree Pasq. I think the Rockets could potentially give you guys a difficult time in a potential final match-up. That is if they reach the finals.

Let's see what happens this season. Should be a good one. Full of surprises I hope (that don't involve injuries of course).

Just saw that the clippers beat houston yesterday 137 - 118. Doesnt look good for both IMO. I mean the clippers keep giving away way many points this season, defence wins championships!!!!!

As for houston, how do u allow 137 points when you have 48 minutes rim protection between asik and howard? Just goes to show the rest of the players defence isnt all that. In particular Harden is not a top defender.

Their perimeter defense is a mess. West is a mirage, apart from Spurs I feel GSW are the best team in the conference. OKC needs more help, front office has basically shat the bed in the last two season. They need veteran 3 and D guy.

That's because the Clippers don't need to score that much in the paint. No more pressure on Griffin to carry the load. When you have guys like Dudley, Reddick (whose been hot BTW), Crawford, Barnes, you can get a decent amount of scoring from the perimeter.

If they had anyone else on that team who could score, you can point the finger at Melo. But they don't, it's a cluster **** of has beens and never will be's with Melo and Chandle, who is a defender mainly.

Amare's albatross of a contract means they will be shit again next season.

Dallas Mavs 3-1 so far. A very decent start.

Monta Ellis turning into a real offensive threat and contributor,

Lazio midfield 1999: ** Nedved - Veron - Simeone - Conceicao

Lazio midfield, 13.12.2009: ** Kolarov - Firmani - Del Nero - Lichtsteiner

And they have assets to make a trade. I am hoping Dallas does make a move and becomes more than just a first roun exit team.

Dirk deserves to compete every year and Carlisle is IMO the best coach after Popovic in the NBA right now. One good rim protector can make them a dangerous team. Or even an energy guy like Faried coming off the bench.
